Thanks, ump.

Love, the Yankees.

hahaha. This is hilarious, a mid-year celebration over beating the, wait for it...Pittsurgh Pirates

When the Red Sox win with walk-off home runs, they do so without celebrating. The Sox are characterized by the joylessness professionalism embodied by team leaders such as Kevin Millar and Curt Schilling. V-Tek's game winning hr against the lowly A's a few weeks ago is a perfect example of this. The Captain was met at home plate by a lone bat boy who helped him take off his batting gloves. Sox players in the dugout were quiet. "There is no reason to celebrate," declared Big Papi, scowling at reporters who surrounded him in the locker. "I have nothing to say as usual," Schilling mumbled quietly to Gordon Edes. Indeed, if there is one thing a winning team does not do, it is celebrate meaningless game winning home runs against lowly opponents.

joyless instead of joylessness. missed that on the edit.

Man, Nick, you really know how to make a point in 600 words or less. Congrats on beating the Pirates. Red Sox Nation is proud of you.

..and speaking of joyless, has anyone noticed Randy Johnson in that picture? He sure looks happy, huh?

Yeah, Randy looks like he's telling the guy in front of him that he skipped him in line. Also, what's why does Tino look like that?

that economical enough for you mattymattymattymattymatty?

Oh dont get me wrong Nick - a walk off is a great thing, but what is funny is the fact that A) the game should have been over in the first place(thank blue for that one) and B) it was more a feeling of releif than joy. Relief that they were not going to have to go into yet another rubber game with yet another terrible team. That is what's funny to me, not the celebration. And I agree with the pics - Outside of Raul Mondesi, Randy Johnson has to be one of the most unlikeable guys around. Every time I see him, I think of the old man who won't give your ball back when it goes into his yard when you were a kid.

Brad-SF, more unlikeable than Curt Schilling? Not when they were both in Arizona.

Oh I agree Battingly. All I want Curt to do is pitch, keep his mouth shut, and stop attempting to convert the entire world into Bush-supporting, right wing, conservative war mongers. You'll get no argument from me about Curt's antics OFF the field, however when he's healthy and winning, I love him every minute of watching him perform.
