A few notes from Florida, as we settle in on a lovely Saturday afternoon:
-Another addition to the David Wells Idiot Pantheon: Terry Francona. A missed dinner not the issue this time.
-Shawn Chacon's 5 hit, 3k, 3.2 inning outing was either "solid" (Peter Abraham) or a "struggle" (NYT). All a matter of perspective.
-Sheff is now 1-18 in spring training. No blaming that on the WBC. Speaking of: DR vs. Cuba and Japan vs. Korea tonight in the semis.

Chacon threw 88 pitches in those 3.2 innings. Whether he was just "working things out" is up for question, but the guess here is that a pitch count that high in a spring training game in such short innings means two things: Chacon's arm is in shape, and he was all over the place. One is good, the other not so good. Still, it's just ST.

88 pitches? Yanks fans better hope he can do better than that over 3.2 innings. Mo can't pitch four innings every five days, you know.

One thing we learned last year is that Chacon doesn't worry. I'm not going to worry about Chacon.
