A little late, but here's your game thread. The Sox have regressed, and need to pick it back up. Chat away.

Curt just got hosed on an inning-ending ball/strike call, now he's in a jam with two down. Sometimes it all just seems to be going against you...
Posted by: SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 07:30 PM
And another call not given. Gonna be a short night for someone on the Sox if this ump isn't consistent.
Posted by: SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 07:31 PM
This umps sucks. Haren just threw a beautiful fastball on the outside corner to Manny that he called a ball. These pitchers are going to be pissed soon.
Posted by: SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 07:36 PM
Manny makes him pay, opposite field double. Trot up.
Posted by: SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 07:39 PM
well, that was a kick in the nuts for trot
Posted by: bigclo | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 07:40 PM
double by lowell? who would've guessed it
Posted by: bigclo | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 07:41 PM
Mikemike! Double drives Manny in. 1 down, Lowell on second.
Posted by: SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 07:41 PM
And now Haren throws a "strike" at Tek's letters. Again, this ump is really bad, both ways.
Posted by: SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 07:42 PM
you see that rotoworld nonsense about tek? can't blame the catcher for the pitcher floating fastballs.
Posted by: bigclo | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 07:43 PM
Gawd, now Haren throws the SAME pitch and it's called a ball. What is this guy smoking?
Posted by: SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 07:43 PM
Brilliant catch by Kotsay, robbing Varitek about 400 feet from home, right near the bullpen wall in the triangle. Tough break for Tek, he really nailed it.
Posted by: SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 07:44 PM
Station-to-station baseball from the Sox that inning, Lowell stranded at second.
Posted by: SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 07:45 PM
Strong inning from Curt, 1-2-3 go the A's.
Posted by: SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 07:52 PM
Papi! 3-0 Sox on the extra base hit knocking in Loretta and Youk.
Posted by: SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 08:05 PM
And Manny lines one back through the box to make it 4-0 Sox.
Posted by: SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 08:06 PM
And another hit! Trot sends Manny to third on a single. Aggressive, hard baserunning from Manny there.
Posted by: SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 08:08 PM
Lowell flies out to left, the sac fly scores Manny. 5-0 Sox. Good hitting from Lowell.
Posted by: SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 08:09 PM
How does Papi hit a triple?
Posted by: Rob SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 08:11 PM
Schill out of the 4th inning.
Posted by: Rob SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 08:20 PM
Papi strands runners on 1st and 3rd to end the 4th.
Posted by: Rob SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 08:32 PM
Schilling hits Swisher in a payback move it seems.
Posted by: Rob SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 09:06 PM
I'm here finally... Work's been hectic and the Sox have sucked, the combination of which has made it physically and mentally difficult to think much about baseball the last couple days...
Posted by: Paul SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 09:09 PM
Sox have M-Lor and Papi on with walks and Manny up... Manny strikes out...
Now that I have broadband, I can "enjoy" the annoying ads ESPN puts up between innings on GameCast that drown out my iTunes...
Posted by: Paul SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 09:10 PM
Schilling looks like he's pitching a gem tonight... I knew he would -- he always comes through exactly when we need it...
Posted by: Paul SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 09:11 PM
Both benches have been worn regarding hit batters.
Posted by: Rob SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 09:12 PM
warned
Posted by: Rob SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 09:12 PM
Thomas fouls out to first...
Posted by: Paul SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 09:13 PM
Curt gets Payton swinging... 8 Ks through 6.2...
Posted by: Paul SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 09:16 PM
Curt with his 9th K tonight.
Posted by: Rob SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 09:17 PM
Strikeout No. 9 for Curt!
Posted by: Paul SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 09:17 PM
Lowell reaches on an error, now on 2nd with 1 down...
Posted by: Paul SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 09:25 PM
ANOTHER Oakland error allows Crisp to reach... Looks like the Sox might be seeking some payback this inning...
Posted by: Paul SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 09:26 PM
Cora single scores Lowell, Crisp to 2nd... 6-0! :-D
Posted by: Paul SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 09:27 PM
Schilling;'s done for the night, but what a great performance! 7 innings, 9 Ks, just two hits and 1 walk, no runs. A HUGE performance when the Sox really needed it...
Posted by: Paul SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 09:31 PM
A solid inning from Delcarmen -- a leadoff walk, two straight Ks, a single, and a flyout...
Posted by: Paul SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 09:40 PM
PAPI! It's not a clutch homer, but it does put him back in a tie for the HR lead! No. 32 and something like 85 RBI now...
The best poart was you could tell it was coming -- foul ball after foul ball, just getting his timing right...
Posted by: Paul SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 09:46 PM
And that does it! The Sox first shutout in forever, and the perfect kind of win after three straight horrible losses... Better yet: it keeps the Yanks two wins away from first place...
Posted by: Paul SF | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 10:05 PM
One game Paul, the loss column is the only one you should pay attention to.
Posted by: bloodyank78 | Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 10:14 PM
Pheh... Everyone looks at the win column or loss column thing too seriously. In the end, it all evens out, except ion rare cases...
In any case, the Yanks win once and the Sox lose once, the Sox are still up by half a game. So the Yanks must win twice with at least one Sox loss to be in a tie...
