What he said.

You wanted him and you know it. Actually, I think the guy gets a bad rap. We know he has strike zone/OBP issues, but I'mguessing your beef is with his personality... His issues in Toronto were because he's a fierce competitor, and Gibbons isn't. Jeez, you guys wanted Lilly, and he had the same problem with Gibby.... As an aside, where he came from, lowly community college ball, 10th round draft pick, he's done all right for himself.

No, 'we' didn't want him at all. We didn't really 'want' Lilly either, he was just an option, but that says more about the pitching market this year than it does about Yankee fans' wants for their team. I'm much happier with two years of Andy Pettitte than 4 years of Ted Lilly.

Shea Hillenbrand was among the worst of the Yankees' first base options. We want other people instead, and are glad the Yankees didn't get him.

A hacking, low OBP guy who rarely walks? He'll fit right in on the Angels!

The second place winner doesn't even have a standard haiku. His second line, "Sox fans on WEEI" is 9 syllables long, when standard haikus are only allowed to have 7 syllables in the second line.

Sox-1 Fans-2 On-3 W-4 E-5 E-6 I-7; 7 Syllables

"Hello McFly (knocks quaid on head), anyone home McFly?"

Hey, the decision of the judges is final.

Gibbons wasn't a competitor? Hasn't he had about 10 dugout / onfield fights?

YF stated here:
Variations OK but
do so at own risk.

We're in the wrong thread, but it depends on how you choose to pronounce "W".

DoubleYou: 3 syllables for the way radio announcers say it

DubbaYou: 3 syllables for the way most people mispronounce it

Dooblavay: 3 syllables for the cheese-eating surrender monkeys

Dubya: 2 syllables for the purported leader of the free world

Wuhh: 1 syllable for the way drowsy gerbil answers the phone

So, you can make it fit. Just get a bigger hammer.

Oops. got mixed up. "W" isn't in French except in borrowed words. That's a Spanish mashed-up phoenetic up there, not French.

Well, it's official. Yanks announce the signing of Igawa to a 5 yr. contract.

No word yet on $ amount or other details.

5 years-20 mil. according to Rotoworld, who by the way, called him a pretty good bet for 2007. That's what we like to hear, although we won't get our hopes up too high.

Don't compare Igawa to Matsuzaka. Just notice that his great K/BB ratio, and notice that he made an adjustment for 2006 that made him give up significantly less homeruns.

Those are big things in the major leagues. He might not have the pure 'stuff' of guys like Nomo or Irabu, but he clearly knows how to pitch, and how to win. Color me a Kei fan.
