Deadspin and several other sites are reporting that this card—with Derek swinging through a pitch while The Mick watches from the dugout and Dubya searches for his seat—actually made it through production and has been distributed to the public. It's a pretty good Photoshop job, no question, though putting Dubya in a city where there is a feeling of mutual loathing doesn't make much sense. A gallery of lovely ladies, dotted here and there in the crowd, Where's Waldo style, would have been preferable. Anyway, this has the smell of a ruse. Some one send us a card. Because if it exists, we surely want one.

Too bad Jeter didn't foul that one back to the right, on a line.

One of the few times I agree with SF without additional snarky comment.. =P

If the photoshopper is reading this, here's a couple of things to consider next time:
* The focus on Dubya should be soft at best, as with the other objects at the depth where he supposedly occurs.
* The Mick should be somewhat larger, as he is nearer to the observer than the men on the bench behind him. He should also probably be a little taller.
Still, it's a pretty wild card. If it does exist, I'd want one too!

Good point on the Mick perspective, KCH. He looks more like Tiny Elvis than a Hall of Fame slugger. If this mini-Mick ascended to the top step of the dugout, his head would be at the top of the guard. This would make him more Gaedel than Mantle.

Wasn't Topps supposed to be released 2/21? Yet I have yet to ee a box. The delays in release (the original date was 2/7) can't be a good omen. The design's bad enough as it is, with the random colored cubes in the all-black frame and the supersmall front nname followed by the superlarge last name. Yuck.
If and when I do pull the Jeter card, I'll post a scan, doctored images or not.

I can't be sure, but from the positioning of the players heads, it looks like Jeter just swung and missed.
