Darrell Rasner faces Jarrod Washburn tonight in Seattle, with our very own Gerb there to record all the action in person. This is a rerun of last Saturday's matchup, won by Rasner at the Stadium despite a fine outing from Washburn. Yanks need to get things turned around after an ugly loss. Comment on the action right here.

hello, hello, hello, is there anybody out there????

Out on the west coast. How's the game going/

Never thought I'd say it but I want Minky back in the lineup.

Not around for very long tonight....hate these late west coast games.
Also, I can see that Yanks were inspired by the Red Sox style of play (get on base = don't score!) and that the umps are already in top form early in the game. Sheesh.

Another terrible call. Have the Mariners been paying off the umpires? CanĂ³ was safe by a half-step, but the ump again was in bad position to see the play.

1. What happened with the umps?
2. Who got hurt? (Gameday says injury delay in the top of the fourth)

once again we are playing the Ms and the Umps

Gameday might have picked up on Abreu's pride shattering as he struck out consecutive times on the two exact same pitches.
Posted by: Andrew | Friday, May 11, 2007 at 11:36 PM
Feh. Just picking up here in the bottom of the 6th, 2 outs, Yanks down by 3.
It's a Yankee game, so Proctor's pitching.
Posted by: YF | Friday, May 11, 2007 at 11:47 PM
Ichiro flies out. Yanks now have 9 outs for 3 runs.
Posted by: YF | Friday, May 11, 2007 at 11:50 PM
9 outs? In a heartbeat we're down to 7.
Posted by: YF | Friday, May 11, 2007 at 11:54 PM
And now 6...
Not much of a game thread here tonite huh.
Posted by: TJ | Friday, May 11, 2007 at 11:56 PM
Abreu sends one on a line to center, but Ichiro tracks it down. He's awfully fast out there. Looks like another solid outing from Washburn here, with Putz waiting to close things down. Not looking good for the Yanks now, but at least there's hope.
Posted by: YF | Friday, May 11, 2007 at 11:56 PM
And a quick out for Proctor, brings Ibanez, who flies to deep right center. Melkster all over it.

Guess not, TJ. A pretty Friday night, I guess folks are out enjoying the evening, with the boys on the coast.
Abreu retires Sexson on a deepish fly just in foul territory down the rf line.

Washburn stays in for Jeter....
Looks like he had him at 0-2, but Jetes gets a break on the call--a fastball right over.
Gets him anyway, a fly behind first base caught by Jose Lopez.
Sounds like the fans in Seattle still don't care for Alex.
Posted by: YF | Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 12:04 AM
Alex follows that by drilling one right at Betancourt. Last month, that was a hit.
2 down.
Posted by: YF | Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 12:05 AM
Washburn Ks Matsui. I assume he's done, and an impressive appearance it was.
Yanks will have the bottom of the order in the 9th.
Posted by: YF | Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 12:08 AM
Bruney in for the Seattle 8th, and throwing serious gas. Not much on the control, though. The 3-2 sails over Jose Guillen's head.
Ellison in for Guillen at first.

Quickly down 2-0 to Beltre.
Posted by: YF | Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 12:13 AM
Easy CS, Posada-to-Cano on a high fastball, next pitch to Beltre a double that catches chalk on the lf line.
Posted by: YF | Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 12:15 AM
Johjima rips one at Alex for the 2nd out.
Posted by: YF | Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 12:17 AM
Betancourt ks to end it, swinging at a pitch high in as he dives out of the way.
Last licks for NY.
Posted by: YF | Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 12:20 AM
Putz on. He really deals.
Posted by: YF | Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 12:23 AM
Jorge just misses one, pops it to short dead center.
Minky on for Phelps.
Posted by: YF | Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 12:26 AM
Whoa. Betancourt catches Minky's shallow fly to left. He was real far out there, calling off Ibanez. Not too many ss's get that ball.
Posted by: YF | Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 12:28 AM
Cano grounder 4-3 ends it. Yanks now 2 under, after a brief flirtation with 500.

. I'll vent again on air of negativity : 3 innings for our bullpen again , when this Rasner dude is going solid . I love Joe , boy but is he slumping . Unless he wants to use this guys as much as he can before trading them , this is plain stupid , and trading overused Proctor won't be good.Maybe Vizcaino , Bruney , who knows . Yankees won't win in '07 baby ,been saying it all Blog-long . In fact , they won't even win the division lest they get bullpen help , starters going more than 5 when they are absolutely in control ( Stop premature yanking ) , or the Red Sox go .560 something the rest of the way . It ain't Yogi till its Yogi , I know , but this looks very Yogi . It is Ironic that the Yankees didn't guarantee Bernie a spot in the roster to make room for pitchers , and just look at the ridicule pinstriped pitching is going through . Punishment fits the crime here , and again , Cashman should be fired . I Hate Pava - NO . He is all a SF scrotum can be . We let an opportunity to pull closer to Cleveland and Boston . No champagne , of any kind , in '07 if things don't change . Quickly . Rant . Rant .Rant . I'm doing my part .

Understand your frustration...but Rasner wasn't in control. 7 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings is awful; he was fortunate to only give up 3 runs. And the fifth inning wasn't exactly clean, either, so it wasn't like he was getting better as the game went on.
Tough to blame Torre for this one, I think...especially since NY was shut out anyway.

Right on , Still , Francona leaves Matsuzaka in against the Yankees even when he was getting pummeled . Result? Dice is 2-0 against the yanks , with a world of confidence cause he knows that with a good performance , he'll probably dominat games against us. Since Mel Stottlemeyer left the pitching coach ranks , bullpen and starters have really sucked . No motivation or confidence building treatment to the pitchers in thi the gator era . Yankees won't win another World Series ( I hope I am wrong ) under Gator or Cashman . Maybe under Gator , but Cashman has to go . Always end up saying that . Cashman has got to go . He doesn't get a pass for signing Clemens . God!!! I could have made that move . Good move , but not a genius and certainly not enough to overshadow his overwhelming failure with the pitching staff over the last few years . Bernie to Cashman : " Bern , Baby , Bern"

Uninspiring game.
