Kason Gabbard, effective in his five-inning victory over Atlanta at Fenway earlier in the season, makes his second appearance of the year tonight. The Sox, after losing last night, are still 4-3 on their roadie and continue to pace the majors as they sit 21 games over even ball; one for each of the years of young Felix Hernandez, who handles the bump for the M's and who threw a stellar one-hit shutout with two walks and six K's when the Sox last saw the remarkable 21-year-old. Here's a place for you to comment on tonight's proceedings.
Gabbard made his major-league debut on July 22 at Safeco last year against Hernandez, in which he suffered the loss. He also pitched relief against the M's last year, not allowing a run.
I'll get the lineups in place when I have a chance.
Thanks, TJ.

Posted by: rootbeerfloat | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 09:41 PM
I see Drew is back in the No. 5 spot.
Posted by: Rain SF | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 09:42 PM
If I remember right, it was Drew who had the only hit against Felix in that one hitter against Dice-K.
Here's hoping Kason has his best stuff tonight.

did you see that Proctor walked that run in to lose the game??
Posted by: rootbeerfloat | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 10:22 PM
he walked 3 batters in the 9th. Pathetic
Posted by: TJ | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 10:23 PM
nstb - do you log in and use the servie from more than one computer?
Posted by: rootbeerfloat | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 10:23 PM
I haven't tonight, rootbeer. It doubly sucks.
Posted by: no sleep til brooklyn SF | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 10:24 PM
I was actually listening to the BAL-NYY game and when I switched it to Boston, it conked out and then I couldn't ever get it working again. Last season, sometimes it acted weird if I logged in from my laptop and my desktop at home.
Posted by: rootbeerfloat | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 10:26 PM
Looks like Gabbard caught the Proctor-bug.
Posted by: no sleep til brooklyn SF | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 10:28 PM
man this is ugly
Posted by: rootbeerfloat | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 10:32 PM
maybe it's a good thing mlb.tv isn't working - would you really want to see this?
Posted by: rootbeerfloat | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 10:35 PM
Kason can not find the plate. Is Tek using the invisible glove today or something?
Posted by: no sleep til brooklyn SF | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 10:36 PM
ok, this is bad. Maybe even worse than Proctor-bad.
Posted by: no sleep til brooklyn SF | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 10:38 PM
how long will kason stay in at this rate?
Posted by: z118 | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 10:38 PM
a dp makes the hurting stop
Posted by: z118 | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 10:42 PM
Wanna bet they rethink this Gabbard for 3 starts bit. Lester will be up for the next go around.
Posted by: TJ | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 10:42 PM
Now I have mlb.tv. Just in time to see Tek strike out.
Posted by: no sleep til brooklyn SF | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 10:43 PM
Did the Yankee game really end in a Walk Off Walk?
My god...
Posted by: LocklandSF | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 10:45 PM
Kason Gabbard can go right back to Pawtucket. He's a terrible pitcher from what I can tell. His start against the Braves was a Houdini job, and tonight he's been pathetic. How is a spot-start for someone like Buchholz a terrible idea, get the kid a cup of coffee? Can he do worse than Gabbard? Will one bad start ruin his confidence, and if that's the case what does that say about his head?
The Sox' rotation right now is an ace, an ace-in-waiting, and three #5 starters. They have a third baseman who is declining before the 81 game mark and a shortstop who, for lack of a better term, sucks. This team, 10 game lead or not, needs help. Serious help, as far as I am concerned.
Posted by: SF | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 10:54 PM
Yikes, 4-1, Seattle.
Kason vs. Felix is just not fair.
Posted by: Rain SF | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 10:55 PM
I'm scratching my head, reminding myself that this is the Mariners, however, they look like a World Series winner right now. Well...it doesn't hurt that our minor league starter has spit the bit.
Posted by: DW-sf | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 11:03 PM
It's up to Youk not to completely waste this out.
Posted by: no sleep til brooklyn SF | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 11:06 PM
sweet.
Posted by: no sleep til brooklyn SF | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 11:06 PM
With 2 on no out, Cora DPs and Coco whiffs on 3 pitches. Ugh. This is not how to put King Felix on the ropes.
Posted by: Jim in CT SF | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 11:27 PM
did Cora try to sacrafice at all in that at bat??
Posted by: TJ | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 11:27 PM
Now we're back to iffy-pitchy, my favorite game by far.
Posted by: no sleep til brooklyn SF | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 11:33 PM
This game is agonizing. Felix alternates between looking lost and dominant. Cora just helped him out lining into a double play on the first pitch... The Sox are getting loads of opportunities and continuing their merry left-on-base parade, started last night.
Looks like Gabby's finally on the way out. Bases juiced, 1 out. Here comes Delcarmen.
Posted by: | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 11:34 PM
I'm beginning to pine for Lester's high wire act.
Posted by: DW-sf | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 11:35 PM
i just turned on game day looks like Gabbard had the corner three times in that 4 pitch walk, were the pitches that close?
Posted by: TJ | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 11:35 PM
DELCARMEN!
Posted by: | Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 11:38 PM
Several of Gabbard's pitches have looked close to me. At times it's felt like there's two strike zones - a wide one for Felix and a tight one for Gabbard.

Lowell with the Sox 1st extra base hit of the night. Awesome.

Posted by: no sleep til brooklyn SF | Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 12:05 AM
Well the Toronto Blue Jays AA manager looks like an ass.
He Manages the New Hampshire Fishercats the AA affiliate of Toronto. Last nite when Buchholz left the game he received a standing ovation from the Boston faithful in Manchester, NH.
Bill Masse said to the New Hampshire Union Leader following the game "I think it's sad. This is New Hampshire's team, Manchester's team and to see Clay Buchholz get a standing ovation was absolutely disgraceful."
Someone should tell Mr Masse that these fans are here to watch some cheap baseball but there blood runs Red Sox Red and they live and die by the Red Sox.
The Fishercats front office should also sit down with him. After all the team knows what their fan base is, They sell Red Sox merchandise in its giftshop and are even having a David Ortiz bobblehead night Friday.

A deep home run for Hinske, then a double for Cora. Can we get something going here?
Posted by: Max | Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 12:11 AM
...I was in the shower...am I right to assume that MDC got kind of unlucky that inning? The HBP is on him...but a broken-bat single, a GB single and a sac fly?
Posted by: Josh SF (D1) | Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 12:18 AM
Papi!!
Posted by: rootbeerfloat | Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 12:20 AM
ahahahaha...! The Fishercats guy is an ass! What a dope, does he know what state the Fishercats play? Seriously. I have tix for Fishercats/Seadogs on July 8th. I think I know why I bought the tickets and it wasn't the Fishercats.
shoot. 2 run homer. 8-6 M's, not cool.

come on boys smack Putz around!
Posted by: TJ | Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 01:11 AM
ok, we just need one run in the 9th to at least extend the game
Posted by: rootbeerfloat | Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 01:18 AM
I fully expect to get swept tomorrow. I'm guessing it'll be the offense's fault.
Posted by: Josh SF (D1) | Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 01:37 AM
d1 - I don't know. Dice-K is good for at least one harir-raising inning on defense...
Posted by: rootbeerfloat | Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 01:39 AM
Ah well, the bats were at least awake. Bad first inning led to 8 innings of catch up- never a good situation.
At least we didn't walk in the winning run.

Hey, can anyone recommend a site that supports http://www.veoh.com/users/ringtonejones>3410 Nokia ring tone? Nokia forums weren't much help unfortunately.
I'm an IT guy but apparently I suck at cell phone tech. Heheh :)
