The Yankees have scored 36 runs in 5 games against the Twins this year. They got 8 last night, with big hits from Robi Cano and Bobby Abreu, and the usual multi-hit night from Jeter, who also made a sweet jumping play in the field. Chien Ming Wang was his usual excellent self (7 innings, 4 hits, 0 runs), and the game was closed with 3 consecutive ks by Edwar Ramirez, in his ML debut. His wacky offspeed pitch, which dips like a knuckler, made the Twins look like cartoon sluggers, but Ramirez got a bit of help from Ron Kulpa's immense strike zone.
Today will be tougher for the pinstripers. Johan Santana is on the hill for the Twins, and he'll face Old Man Moose. Can the Yanks win this one for their aging Gipper? The Boss turns 78 today. Happy Birthday George. Happy Birthday America. Play ball!

Happy 4th.
The Yankee lineup is pathetic today. No ARod, No Abreu. Santana on the mound. Abreu should be playing. Lifetime 0-1 with 2 walks. Hits lefties well; is coming off of two multi-hit games? Yeah...we need Thompson.

Pete Abe has Alex in there, but with Melky and Miggy in the 1, 2, and then Thompson and Nieves in the 8-9.....well, that's a lot of pressure on Derek and Alex.

Check out the Sox' lineup in the thread above. Similar "eh, it's a holiday" attitude. Very frustrating.

Yanks donate a run in the first. Melky leadoff single in the bottom of the inning, Minky bunts him over (ugh), Derek grounds out on a nice play up the middle by Punto. Here's Alex.

Matsui OWNS Santana. Swat over the rightfield wall and we're all even.

Go Matsui! Go Yankees! Strange lineup though.

Who replaced the Twins with a bunch of pseudo-inept hitters and fielders?

Two run jack in the 7th for the Twins. Who is Mussina going to blame that one on?
