It's just a shame there was no gamer for this historic event.

I'll repeat a suggestion made about a month ago: With Typepad (and Wordpress) it is very easy to create posts in advance to "go live" at a future date and time.

Frontpagers can easily set up gamers a week (or even a season) ahead of time. At any point before or after that time, the text of the item can be altered. But using this approach, neither SFs nor YFs need ever be lacking a gamer.

It's easy and would save visitors to this site the frustration of waiting and wondering when the gamer for each day's action will go live (if ever).

Anyway, sorry about the lack of a gamer. I know things have been hectic on my end, and that all of my fellow moderators have been travelling or super busy of late. Hudson's suggestion is a good one. We've actually done it in the past. This weekend, however, we just weren't organized enough. We'll do a better job in the future.

Sorry again about the lack of gamer. I'd planned on doing one, but I became unexpectedly busy from Friday night through yesterday evening. By the time I came back, of course, I wasn't about to change ANY part of the routine.

Well, t the least they couldnt have put up the gamer midway through the game, as Paul points out. Had they done that, and Clay blew it.. you can be sure we would have hunted Paul down and burned him alive.

I was at work checking my cellphone regularly, gettign more and more excited.

In the eighth, I basically stopped working - so distracted by thoguhts of a no-no was I. The ninth came right after the store had close and when the little Fox Sports program my cell has spewed the text "Markakis struck out" I exploded. Jumping up and down woo-hooing. Screaming. One of my managers came over to ask just what I was doing. After I told him that Boston rookie Clay Buchholz had jsut thrown a no-hitter in his SECOND career start he said "Oh wow.. really? Well, carry on then for five minutes. Then get back to work."

ZYou know.. afte rbeign really depressed about baseball goign into yesterday, I feel GIDDY right now. Just what I needed.. thank you Clay.

What a Rivalry is in place for the comign years... Kennedy, Chamberlain, Hughes, Pedroia, Ellsbury, Papelbon, Buchholz..

Not worried about the lack of thread last night. Seemed kind of appropriate that both Kennedy and Buchholz shared the same thread. I think that they will be sharing threads in head to head match ups a lot over the next few years. Might as well start doing it now.

My young son developed a fever yesterday, surprising and concerning me when I got home to relieve his mom so she could go to work; it's the first time he has ever hinted at an illness completely distracting me from checking to see if someone had posted a game thread, which I had planned to do 20 minutes prior to game time. We are working on a system to make such omissions less likely to recur. We're usually pretty good about covering for each other, but it was simply a case of RealLife getting in the way of our posting duties. Excuses aside, sorry folks.

At lohud he continues to whine about the Sox, today complaining that the last pitch of clay's no-no wasn't a strike (just saw the replay, looked decent enough to me) then he throws in a cheap joke about Buchholz' college run-in with the law. Pete's too young to be acting like Murray Chass, and I continue to be amazed at the cheap jokes made about players from a beat writer.

i'm getting in on this late...i too was busy this weekend helping my daughter move into her new apt...i'm beat, but i did get reports of the scores and such...congrats sf's on the no-no...i have to admit i was rooting for it to be broken up, just as you would for a yank pitcher, but it's still cool...wish i could've seen it...the kid must be good...

Clay Bucholz is the goofiest person ever. He is completely incapable of bending his neck and his performance in the post game interview made the fact that he had thrown a no hitter entirely tolerable for a Yankees fan like myself. That dude is a doofus.
