Jon. Jacoby. Dustin. Jonathan. Clay. Youk. Daisuke. Josh. Manny. Coco.
These are the names of your young and exciting Boston Red Sox, who are edging ever closer to a playoff spot and a potential AL East title.
Tonight the worst of the bunch, Jon Lester (did anyone think that would even be an arguable statement 16 months ago?), takes the hill in Fenway South.
Comment on the game here.

Is there another Manny I'm not awared of?
Posted by: Lar | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 05:38 PM
Bad grammar on my part. The Yanks game is so late..
Posted by: Lar | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 05:39 PM
Lar: Delcarmen.
Posted by: Devine | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 05:41 PM
Ah. Didn't think Manny was a common name.
Posted by: Lar | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 05:52 PM
Hey fellow SFs. I have a slight delimma. I was at work for Clay's no-no and didnt think to tape it (I had a feed.. I get MASN). I'd love to be bale to watch the entire game (again and again and again) instead of just the outs like displayed on redsox.com. That said, I was wondering if any of you have a tape or other form of recording that can be place on portable media of said game - perferbaly NESN feed, but I'd take MASN in a pinch. I'd gladly pay for shipping and the tape/dvd/cd or work whatever out.
I already checked ebay and nothin' doin'.
Anyway, so not to be putting mailing addys out here on the blog, please email me at agastaldSPLATgmail.com
SPLAT = @. Oh no jumk mail bots.. you wont get me.
Thanks

Dionysus - I don't know if it's up anymore, but the day after, mlb.com had a "free" viewing of it. Let me see if I can find it.
Posted by: Lar | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 06:22 PM
Dio, if you subscribe to MLB.tv you can watch the entire game. It's only 19 bucks right now for the remainder of the season.
Posted by: LocklandSF | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 06:23 PM
I'd also of cours epay any fees to get the tape copied to th eblank, if its a tape.
Posted by: Dionysus | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 06:25 PM
hmm.. 19 bucks eh?
Posted by: Dionysus | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 06:25 PM
I just checked to make sure archived games is still part of the basic MLB.tv package, which I have, and it is, so I watched the last inning again.
Rock hard nipples.
Posted by: LocklandSF | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 06:26 PM
It's actually really cool, I can watch any part of any game played by any team, or sit back and watch the entire game.
I think I pay 80 bucks a season for this and it's always worth it, even if I only use it to watch two or three live games when traveling.
Posted by: LocklandSF | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 06:29 PM
Ya, I like the condensed game a lot, actually. Less setting up, but more than just highlights.
Posted by: Lar | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 06:32 PM
Some people seem to have technical issues with MLB.TV, but I've had only one or two problems over about three years' worth of subscription. I really like it. Of course, I also pay for Extra Innings on cable, so that I can watch at the best comfort level at work and at home.
Love being able to look at all the games across the league, Lockland. Especially love going back to archives and watching favorite moments of the season (the four back-to-back homers, for instance).
Posted by: Devine | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 06:33 PM
Hows the quality though? Ive avoid MLB.tv du to quality concerns.. I figured the image woul dbe poor.
Posted by: Dionysus | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 06:33 PM
Devine, I was at that game. Jesus, I'm going to watch it now.
I heard through the grapevine that MLB is very close, possibly by post-season 2008, to offering live games on mobile.
That is the HOLY GRAIL.
Posted by: LocklandSF | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 06:36 PM
It's definitely not as good as TV, but it doesn't suck. And I think you'll find for $20 that the access to everything is worth it.
Posted by: Devine | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 06:38 PM
Dio, it's web video, so it's not great. But honestly, it's not that bad. They actually do a pretty good job. You do need a great high speed connection and decent computer though.
Posted by: LocklandSF | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 06:39 PM
Devine,
Thank you for reminding me of that, it's been weeks since I watched that again.
I'm so fired up for tonights game now it's dangerous.
Posted by: LocklandSF | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 06:48 PM
No prob, Lockland. Enjoy the game, y'all. I must miss most of it this evening.
Posted by: Devine | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 06:50 PM
I'm serious, that was dangerous, 3 of us just watched all four home runs three times, with shots of Knob Creek. We are FAR too fired up now.
Posted by: LocklandSF | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 07:04 PM
I like this lineup, Jacoby almost beat out a routine grounder.
Posted by: LocklandSF | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 07:06 PM
I thought this was funny from the Globe's Extra Bases blog today: "J.D. Drew is really swinging the bat well here before the game."
Posted by: stuck working | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 07:11 PM
"Worst" seems a little harsh to Lester, though he came near to proving you right in the 1st inning...
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 07:31 PM
JD doubles... launching his rehabilitation campaign?
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 07:34 PM
Drew does a good job making the Globe seem prescient with that double.
Posted by: stuck working | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 07:34 PM
2nd and 3rd, no outs... If this becomes another of those "Sox threaten but don't score innings," I'm going to be perty annoyed.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 07:35 PM
OK, so Tek singles in one run. I feel better.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 07:35 PM
Oh captain my captain.
Posted by: LocklandSF | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 07:35 PM
You know what kills me, my little brother convinced me and my friends to come out to the bars tonight and pretend we're 23 again. All I want to do is sit here and watch this game.
I'm sad.
Posted by: LocklandSF | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 07:37 PM
Coco sacs home run #2.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 07:38 PM
(That is, he sacrifices home the second run of the inning, not he hit his second hom run.)
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 07:39 PM
What the hell was Lugo swinging at?
Posted by: LocklandSF | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 07:41 PM
Inning over via Ks by JLug and DEll.
2-0 Sox after one-and-a-half.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 07:45 PM
Wow, lotta Sox fans in Camden Yards chanting Yooooouk after that diving stab.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 07:53 PM
DPed out, Papi singles, Lowell singles. 1st and 2nd, one out.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 07:58 PM
Youks Ks, 2 gone, still two on.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:01 PM
Drew walks, Ortiz hams it up a little pretending he might go home on a ball that squirted away from the catcher... Loaded up for Tek.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:03 PM
Hey, my gameday suddenly stopped showing the strikezone box. Anyone know how I can fix this?
Also, Go Red Sox!
Posted by: Atheose | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:04 PM
Tek called out on strikes, after some terrible calls by the ump.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:05 PM
I noticed it yesterday, Atheose. I assume it's a permanent change -- I doubt MLB liked everyone looking at something telling them an alleged ball was inside the zone, etc.
Posted by: stuck working | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:07 PM
By the way, I'm late on this conversation but I have MLB.tv Premium. It was great all summer for me, but then suddenly in the last 2 months it has lagged like crazy for me.
Posted by: Atheose | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:08 PM
Thanks, stuckworking. I randomly noticed that it was doing this too and it pissed me off.
Posted by: Atheose | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:12 PM
Lester has settled down; Crisp leads off the 4th with a single.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:16 PM
GOD BLESS COCO! Lead-off single.
Posted by: Atheose | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:16 PM
(Yankees and KC underway.)
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:17 PM
JLug grounds out, with Coco advancing to 2nd.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:18 PM
Jacoby almost beat Millar to the bag, that boy is damn fast.
Posted by: Rob | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:18 PM
Jacoby now 0-for-3 on the night as he grounds out, first-pitch-swinging.
Crisp on 3rd with two outs.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:19 PM
balk...balk....balk
Posted by: Rob | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:19 PM
Cabrera balks Crisp home!
I don't know if I've ever seen that.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:20 PM
Are balks up this year? I feel like I've seen more of them throughout the league this year.
Posted by: stuck working | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:20 PM
Cabrera throws at Dustin's head and is warned.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:21 PM
94 mph at his head. WTF?
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:21 PM
Hernandez jawing with Francona, Cabrera being held back... Millar actually trying to mediate, which is kind of funny.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:22 PM
balk...balk....balk
Posted by: Rob | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:22 PM
Bullpen empties, but no punches thrown that I can tell...
The Orc talking to Cabrera. Rub his head, Julian!
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:23 PM
Wow, glad we did not have someone throw a punch. Do not need anyone getting a stupid suspension.
Posted by: Rob | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:23 PM
The Brooklyn Cyclones actually won their division last night on a walk-off balk.
Not that I'm, you know, comparing the Orioles to a single A tea - well, maybe I am.
Posted by: Bullfrog | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:24 PM
I'd sure love to see Pedroia smack one now.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:24 PM
It's 3-0 Sox, btw, no one on, two outs.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:25 PM
MASN showed the super slo-mo of Tito mouthing "what the F&&& was that?"
Posted by: Rob | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:26 PM
the orc really does crack me up... out there talking about who knows what
Posted by: z118 | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:26 PM
Play still has not resumed.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:27 PM
Looks like Cabrera's being booted.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:28 PM
No one is warm for Baltimore. This could be a while.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:29 PM
This is bizzah.
Posted by: no sleep til brooklyn SF | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:33 PM
Oh shit someone got ejected? NICE!
Posted by: Atheose | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:35 PM
Cabrera must be seriously immature and hotheaded. The only explanation would be if Pedroia was laughing at him or something for the balk, but even so, that was totally out of bounds.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:35 PM
Pedroia flies out, anticlimactically.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:35 PM
That was definately crazy. Of course the warnings were issued so there is no retaliation.
Posted by: Rob | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:38 PM
Tejada leads off with a single. Wonder how cold Lester is after that weird, long inning.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:38 PM
Who was the Baltimore catcher screaming at? Yelling 'vacuum- vacuum' over and over again at the Red Sox bench.
Posted by: no sleep til brooklyn SF | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:39 PM
Yankees go up 1-0 on ARod's #49.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:39 PM
ARod already cracked a homer tonight.
Posted by: Rob | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:40 PM
Uh oh, looks like Lestah got a little stiff while waiting for his turn to pitch. Millar walks.
Posted by: Atheose | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:40 PM
Now Lester walks Millar. Ick.
(Vaccuum, vaccuum?)
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:40 PM
Lester starting to cause himself problems.
Posted by: Rob | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:40 PM
Not sure why Hernandez would be yelling Vaccuum. What is the meaning of that?
Posted by: Rob | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:41 PM
Lester induces a grounder, but no DP, putting Miggy on 3rd and Huff on 1st with one out.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:42 PM
Probably yelling something in Spanish. Crazy Mexicans!
Posted by: Atheose | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:43 PM
I'm no lip-reader, but "vaccuum" and "f-ck you" would look about the same on camera...
Hernandez lines out, two gone.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:43 PM
(it's a grade school thing)
Say 'vacuum to someone without sound and it looks like you're saying 'f*ck you'.
Posted by: no sleep til brooklyn SF | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:44 PM
Lester escapes his second jam of the night with a grounder, 6-4.
63 pitches after four for J.L.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:45 PM
Lester gets himself out of trouble. 4 scoreless innings so far.
Posted by: Atheose | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:45 PM
Brooklyn: Now we get it.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:46 PM
We thought we were so clever in the 5th grade.
Posted by: no sleep til brooklyn SF | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:47 PM
Ortiz pops out.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:47 PM
Ok...understand now. I don;t rememeber that from grade school.
Posted by: Rob | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:47 PM
Lowell grounds out, first pitch swinging.
Burres is going to be able to finish this game for the O's at this rate. 3 outs on 4 pitches so far, including the last out of the last inning...
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:48 PM
2 quick outs.
Posted by: no sleep til brooklyn SF | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:48 PM
Youks shows some more patience, but grounds out on the 6th pitch.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:50 PM
Youks shows some more patience, but grounds out on the 6th pitch.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:51 PM
KC makes it 2-1, and is still batting with runners on and no outs in the bottom of the 2nd.
(Ian Kennedy is one weird-lookin' dude, at least based on his Gameday pic.)
Posted by: | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:52 PM
Kennedy's got the high sock stirrups on tonight, haven't seen those for a while.
Posted by: no sleep til brooklyn SF | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:54 PM
What is up with Ellsbury and this one sleeve thing?
Posted by: Rob | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:55 PM
KC ties it up, 2-2, one out and two on.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:56 PM
Maybe he has a tattoo and is covering it a la Josh Hamilton.
Posted by: no sleep til brooklyn SF | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:56 PM
Another scoreless inning for Lester. Nice.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:57 PM
Can't tell if Lester is pitching really well or if the Orioles are just this bad. It's probably a bit of both.
Posted by: stuck working | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 08:59 PM
Sox strand one (CCri BB) in the top of the 6th.
Posted by: Hudson | Friday, September 07, 2007 at 09:09 PM
