We all wear many hats in and throughout our lives. One item on gerbil's lengthy CV is a stint as a worker at a fast-food joint when he was a pimply 16/17 year old. I won't say precisely which joint, but it was the one Vincent didn't go into when he was in Paris. One summer, that quality dining establishment that offers fine and thoughtful food at affordable prices ran a promotion on ice cream sundaes that came in those plastic ball caps with the team logos and the young gerbil, baseball fan that he was, eventually acquired caps for every team, though of course he made sure to grab several extra Bombers caps.
Imagine the surprise, some twenty-plus years later, when gerbil's mom sent him a package of belongings that she thought may be of interest including his first baseball mitt, several early favorite books, and a Yankees, a Red Sox, and a Tigers ice cream cup cap. Now imagine the shock and horror experienced by gerbil when he witnessed the following image of his young son in (allegedly unprompted) action...
It was young Owen's mom that took this image, and as gerbil was not there to determine if the chapeau atop his son's downy crown came there to light of his own volition or if some subterfuge was at hand, there is naturally some suspicion about the whole ordeal. However, I do think I need to lie down for awhile.

Still ransacking the house for my 27 (Fisk) jersey. It is here, I know it!

Your son has goodness in his heart. Don't mess with it, Gerb.

Look at the smile on his face placing THE cap on his head.
Looks like a little saint with that hat.

Picture couldn't be more perfect, and the boy couldn't be any cuter, Gerb!
Sometimes children don't need to be pointed to the way. They just find it on their own.

Your kid has a head like Shea Hillenbrand's. Won't fit in the helmet.
Got him on "flaxseed oil" already, Gerb!?

My brother moved to Denver recently. The timing unfortunately means that the local team's Cinderella story is making his young children (who otherwise would be SFs) to become Rockie rooters, probably for life.

There are worse things than to be a Sox-Rox fan. It isn't difficult to root for an AL team and an NL team. Quite fun, in fact.

SF: Huge head. Like an orange on a toothpick. Like Sputnik. Spherical, but quite pointy in parts.

True, true. Unless they meet in the World Series.

That is one adorable (and well-chapeaued) child. Congrats to you and your mischievous missus. :)

I keep looking at this photo and laughing, I think the wife staged this on you.
Definately the final kicker to an already bad week. Yanks eliminated and now this.

> staged this on you
I'm thinking so too, just to rub it in about who's still playing ball and who is fighting for tee times, but she's a Tigers fan and all three caps were available... hmm.

This uncertainty of the validity of the call on this play has made me think my ardent opposition to instant replay may demand further consideration.
