im befudled as to why Mo hasnt taken this offer yet. If he walks from it then my opinion of him is drastically reduced. Even if Id like Boss Jr to keep his mouth shut, I think the yankees have done everything they can to award Mo and show him he is wanted. I think he is just making the yankees sweat, I dont see him getting offers in this range from anywhere else.

To be honest, I can't blame Hank for making those comments. $15 million per for a reliever for three years? If he demands four years, I let him walk.

I don't think he will because I don't see any team willing to offer that kind of money to a 38 year old reliever.

BTW, did you guys see this article by Lupica?

Lupica can be a dope sometimes, but I've never known him to be factually wrong so it is intriguing to see what people close to A-Rod are saying.

I saw that article Jay. Interesting stuff, though I really don't think he'll crawl back now. Both sides would lose; the Steinbrenners would look like they were desperate to keep ARod (after issuing the ultimatum that they would not deal with him in the free-agent market), and ARod would look like a fool for opting out in the first place after the free-agent market ended up a bust.

Also, I don't understand why Mo hasn't taken the deal. They're offering to pay him significantly more than the next highest closer in baseball, and at his age that's an amazing thing.

Also, I don't see any other team paying Mo as much as the Yankees are offering him. He'll probably relax a few days, see if anything comes up, and then accept the Yankees' offer.

I posted this in another thread, but since this one is newer:

Apparently the Yankees are interested in trading for Freddy Sanchez and Damaso Marte.

Too many people made too many comments re: ARod. (Me included) So it's probably best to close that chapter.

I mean, unless ARod really takes a huge (per year) pay cut or something.

As annoying as Hank is, he is right though, at 15 mil per for 3 years, for the only team he's ever played, and the fact that he wants to stay (and he's no ARod) should really make this obvious.. I'll be shock any other way..

And as much as I love Mo, if another team offers more than 45/3, well, you'll have to let him go, I guess. To be honest, I thought 45/3 was already a bit high. Ah well.

I also liked Marte a few years ago, but he dropped off my radar the last year or so. I wonder what happened to him..

Also, if ARod fires Boras, it might change things. But it has a snowball in a blackhole's chance..

I would like to say that my comment was made before the recent Daily News articles.. but hehe..
