Finally! Brian Cashman is getting a chance to show what he can do without Steinbrenner interference!

Lane won't break camp with the Yankees unless he has done a 180. It's not a risky proposition because he comes cheap and you can never have too many options going into Spring Training. If he pans out, great. If he doesn't, who cares? It's one of those moves.

Ironically enough in 2005, his best season, he hit righties very well. 18 HR's in 361 AB's, .280/.322/.521. So maybe a Lane RHP, Duncan LHP platoon is what Cash is thinking about. But again Lane would have to really have a good showing to even let it get that far.

John, good analysis. I mean it's not an awful move, as you point out. Just one of those moves. I think he's supposed to be a decent outfielder, so, perhaps if he makes the roster, he could give our aged outfield a spell once in a while and also man first.

That was seriously hilarious.

Oh, sorry.

That was hilarious!

Everything looks good with exclamation points!

The Sox are close to re-signing Mirabelli!!

Tim Wakefield is mixing the Duncan Hines right this minute!!

Cookie Party!!!

What's the deal with exclamation points?!

Is this an inside joke or something?!

How about giving some love to ampersands while we are at it?!
