Ironic that Comiskey backed out, complaining about low funds, considering his own reputation as a skinflint owner and its role in leading to the 1919 Black Sox scandal.

As I said in the other thread, this reminds me most of the 1918 World Series, when the Sox stayed in the clubhouse past game time, agitating for a bigger cut of the World Series share -- of course, this was an era when the World Series share actually meant something because ballplayers were so underpaid.

Imagine the fields they played on around the world...must have been crazy. Lucky men to be able to travel around the world in 1889...sounds like it could be a decent screenplay at some point? YF...you should see what you can do with that?

YF,

In all the madness today, I wanted you to know that this was very cool, incredibly interesting.

Thanks.
