At Least It's Not This

Something to be grateful for when you worry about Pettitte's back..

Zambrano

Gotta think it's a lot worse to catch one of those pitches than a spitter. No wonder Barrett fought big Z.

It's tough to be a cubbie.

edit: bumped this behind the gamer

If my mind wasn't in the gutter most of the time, I wouldn't get this.
Good catch, AG.

...

And here's something from the Boston Globe plucked from USA Today. Feel free to start a separate thread with it....

For the first time since 2003, the Red Sox will not start the season with the second-highest payroll in the majors.

Figures obtained by the Associated Press indicated that the Red Sox opened the season with a payroll of $133,440,037, which is down $10 million from their Opening Day payroll last season and ranks as the fourth-highest in the majors this season. Not surprisingly, the Yankees lead the way with just over $209 million.

In every season since 2004, the Red Sox had placed second behind the Yankees in total payroll. This year, they're behind the Yankees, Tigers, and Mets. The Sox spent $143 million last season, and averaged about $123 million per year from 2004-06. Courtesy of USA Today's salaries database, here's a list of total Sox payroll from 1988 ($15 million!) to 2007.

Figures were obtained by The Associated Press from management and player sources and include salaries and pro-rated shares of signing bonuses. In some cases, parts of salaries deferred without interest are discounted to reflect present-day values.

My bad. Apparently this list did not come from USA Today.

I like the fact that ARod out-earns the entire Marlins Roster.

To be a bit more thorough, Giambino does as well, and Jeets is just a couple measly hunnerd grand back

Alex Rodriguez $28,000,000
Jason Giambi $23,428,571
Derek Jeter $21,600,000

My Gawd. The three of them top the Twins, Royals, Pirates, A's, Fish, and other Fish.

i feel like the more you stay on a sport, the more damaged your body can attain.

Not only does ARod out-earn the entire Marlins roster, but he does so with 7 million to spare!
