If there were a yankee list - Moose would be the most recent that i can remember....

The Yanks have had 12 CG 1-hitters since 1956, two since 2000 -- Mussina's on 9/2/01 and Ted Lily's one-hit, 1-0 loss on 4/27/02.

Lily gave up the one hit in the eighth on a walk, wild pitch and single. Talk about tough luck. Freddy Garcia pitched a heck of a game, as well.

Mussina, of course, lost his perfect game against the Red Sox when Carl Everett singled with two outs in the ninth.

The only other no-hitter lost in the final inning by a Yankee pitcher was Bob Turley's gem on July 4, 1959. He gave up a leadoff ninth-inning single to lose it.

Great read as always, Paul. I certainly remember the last two well.

Nice post, and a particularly great title for it.

Great, Paul.

I think this is Candy Maldonado's first appearance at YFSF!
