The Yankees have dropped seven of their last ten. It hurts to watch, but we will be watching anyway, especially with staff ace Chien-Ming on the mound. Howse about a win, fellas?

kinda weird hearing all the vocal mets fans in the stadium. went to the dodgers angels game yesterday and the big A was packed with dodger blue. needless to say, the parking lot was chalk full of knucklehead flare-ups before and after the game.

Delgado hits a home run, called home run then reversed, apparently the first call was right. Instead of 6-0 Mets, it's still only 3-0.

Mets have done pretty well despite getting robbed of a three0run homer. They now lead 11-2. 7 for Wang (one allowed after beign inherited by Russ) and 4 for Russ.

After falling way behind last year, I predicted NYY would get back into it.
I don't see it happening this year. This isn't a bad team, but NYY are relying too much on pitches that have little or no track record. Unless there are some major trades, and that's not out of the question, NYY is cooked. This drought goes way beyond Rodriguez' and Posada's absences. The pitching just isn't there.
They have to rely too much on two starters, Wang and Pettitte. And when they get smoked, like they did this weekend, that's just not good. Pen, less Mo, is mediocre.
Stranger things (Aaron Small) have happened, yes. Wang and Pettitte could go balls out the rest of the way and Hughes could be a real stud in the second half. But It's just not something you can bank on. Way too many "ifs."
They'll get close, but without a major deal, I'll be surprised if this team makes the playoffs.
All those past years NYY came back from the dead to no one's surprise. This year just doesn't have the same feel.

This is my prediction for NYY. I've laid out my reasons. (I don't have a good feel for RS yet. Too psychotic so far.)
And if I'm wrong, I'll be here to take the heat at the end of the season.

Bill, like you, I also knew the Yanks would come back and be a huge threat last year despite their slow start. While I'm not gonna say they wont, I'm certainly less sure of the Yankees posing a threat this year... but I'm not gonna blame it on their pitching.

I'm blaming it on the Rays. The Rays are for Real and are a phenominal young team. They add a serious monkey wrench into a formerly predicitable AL East. They are definatly a threat for the Wild Card this year and if the Sox stumble, maybe a threat for the Division. Last year, the Yanks really only had the Sox to worry about as serious contenders in the East.. now the Rays are there too.

Don't think we haven't noticed that team that sits beside us in first, and swept us at the Trop. We have a good team, for certain, but the East is all but that.

I'm hoping they stumble.

Oh, I know we know Pat. Especially with the fact that Kazmir has ALWAYS been an Achilles heel for us, I've never been comfortable with the Rays and now that they are such a strong team up and down their rotation...

Well, the East is MUCH more interesting.
