Silver Streak: Tribe-Yanks Gamer V
Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor starred in one of the funniest movies of my lifetime from my perspective at age 7-14 until I saw Strange Brew and also discovered Python and Douglas Adams. Oh, I'm definitely low-brow. I remember Silver Streak well because it was replayed on cable 326 times per month after my parents sprung for 57 channels with nothing on when I was seven or so. That and I had a crush on Jill Clayburgh.
Quote, each time George Caldwell jumps, falls, is thrown or is pushed off the train: "Son of a bitch!"
Word.
The Yankees are a streaky team. Lose three to the Tigers. Win three from Seattle. The Tribe comes to town having scored 12 runs to the Yankees' 13 in their split of four games at the Jake. Fausto Carmona is on the mound for Cleveland while the Yankees send Andy Pettitte in the first of three games at The Stadium. Tomorrow it is uber-ace Cliff Lee facing Wang (what a matchup) and Thursday sees Byrd against Mussina. Here's your place to comment on today's game, the series, Life, The Universe, and Everything.

Game 2 definitely a great pitching matchup. Having heard so much about Lee but never having seen even a single pitch from him, I'm curious to watch that game. (On a related note, I finally watched my first Chris Paul game last night after hearing months of hype...I'm still picking my jaw up off of floor).
Game 3 is the matchup of craftiness. I predict that no pitched ball shall break 90 mph before the 7th inning on Sunday.
As for tonight, I'll be switching between Pettitte/Carmona and Obama/Clinton. Should be fun.

That scene in the mens room in Kansas City where Pryor teaches Wilder to "pass" can only be matched by the Latin Lesson scene from Life of Brian and maybe Dick Shawn's audition for Hitler in "The Producers".
IMHO.
As for tonight, if neither the Yanks nor the Sox can keep me away from turning on Tweety or Wolfie, then baseball has failed in its main purpose of existence.

"This movie was shot in 3B - three beers - and it looks good, eh?"
and for the Tribe this series...
"The power of the force has stopped you, you hosers!"

"Dick Shawn's audition for Hitler in 'The Producers'"
Possibly the funniest thing ever.

David Dellucci goes Yahtz off Joba. Cleveland winning 5-3 in the bottom of the 8th. Joba has NO luck against Cleveland. Ugggh.

Like YF, I like Cone's work on YES. But there is definitely a tinge of "when I was a kid I used to lug ice up seven flights of stairs" to his commentary.

Wow, I've never heard a stadium get so quiet so quickly. Well, except for when Pujols hit that go-ahead homer in the 9th inning of the playoffs against the Astros a few years back. That was pretty crazy.
Joba was using his curveball far too much that at-bat, wonder if he's trying his other pitches in preperation of becoming a starter.

Yeah, Cone's analogy about Chamberlain diversifying his portfolio make me crack up.
