Late last night Mike Timlin closed out a sweep of Milwaukee in clean, efficient fashion, the tidiest accomplishment in an ugly nightcap (seven errors between the two teams) easily forgotten by lovers of slick baseball everywhere. On short sleep the Brewers and Sox retake the field at Fenway in what is probably a bit of a daze, the likelihood of good fundamental baseball tempered by sleep deprivation. On "good baseball"'s side we have ace Josh Beckett leading the way - it is a game in which seven solid innings from the Bosox' stopper would seem imperative.

Funny how they have this promotion where if your name is drawn and the Sox' third batter in the third inning hits a three-run homer, you get some sort of cumulating jackpot... That only happened once last year, in September. Pretty low-risk promotion for whoever's giving away the money...

Im not sure how low risk it is. is the start off price the same as whats added on each game? If it was a set prize then yea it would be low risk, but as long as it happens atleast once there still giving away a lot of money, especially if again like last year the one time comes in September.

LFRS wildly swings at the first pitch, which is nowhere close. It is like he decides to swing no matter what the pitcher throws, it appears he has ZERO pitch recognition.

Sox have hit a three-run homer with zero out in the third three times since the beginning of the 2003 season. This assumes of course it's not later in the inning after a couple RBI singles or something. In 2005, the Sox hit a homer in the third with none out 14 times, which is a LOT. Most years it's only been four or five all year.
What is up with Beckett and the homers??

Beckett looks really bad, total 2006 redux - good stuff, then a fat POS hanging right over the plate. He's getting absolutely tagged. And as I type another one from Fielder. Four on the day.
Maybe Josh and Farrell should watch some tape...maybe cue up some '07 games and '06 games and see what the f*ck is up? Because SOMETHING is up.
