As always, we here at YFSF continually look to deepen our roster of fabulous writers, the more varied the viewpoints on the national pastime (and the rivalry) the better. To that end, we are happy to announce that frequent commenter, occasional rabble-rouser, but always thoughtful Yankee fan IronHorse has been made an author at YFSF.
Quick intro: IronHorse is the father of two young children, hails from Manhattan, and grew up adoring Bucky Dent. His full profile can be viewed at the bottom of this page. Welcome aboard, IH!

Fantastic addition to the roster. Welcome, IH.

Welcome IH, it's great to see another YF on board!
North Haledon IH? Nice are you a EC grad or Manchester?

Welcome aboard, IH! I like the Bull Durham reference in your profile.
By the way, are you sure that game you saw was March 7? That must have been an amazing sight, by the way.

it's great to see another YF on board!
For the record, Paul and I are now outnumbered 5-2!
Welcome, IH!

> Paul and I are now outnumbered
Considering how I have been accused on numerous occasions to be a closeted Sox fan and/or mole, and the fact that to make rootbeerfloat happy I single-handedly caused Jon Lester to throw a no-hitter last night, I think that ratio may be in question.

Thank God for another YF...i'm sure IH will increase the Yankee chatter!

Speaking of which, what happened to D1?
Posted by: LocklandSF | Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 12:17 PM
Thanks for the warm welcome - looking forward to adding to the controlled chaos here.
And thanks for the catch Atheose. That's a fairly complete brainfart on my part. Serves me right for rushing. Game was around the end of the season in '98...am checking the date now. I also landed to sniper fire in Bosnia a few years back...
No really, I was there. In Camden Yards that is - not Bosnia.

Sunday, Sept 20...I see someone already fixed it in the profile - tx!
John: I'm surprised you've ever heard of N. Haledon...hardly anyone in NJ knows it. And certainly no one outside the state!

We don't know. Vanished.

"We don't know. Vanished."
Well, that's weird.

No hitter, Defending WC's and 1st place...and still the complaining SF? "For the record, Paul and I are now outnumbered 5-2!" LOL I kid.

I, for one, welcome our new YF moderator overlords.
Just kidding; it's good to have you on board, IH. Long time coming.

Bucky Dent.
This just came to me.
After the 1978 World Series, I remember Johnny Carson doing a joke that went something like this:
"Bucky Dent. Bucky Dent. Sounds like a toothpaste for beavers."
Even at 13 I recognized Carson's genius.
(P.S. What sucked most was seeing Yaz pop out to Graig (Puff) Nettles foul of third base to end it.)

Okay, enough with tipping the scales around here!
This place has become too Yankcentric lately, and it's starting to really get under my skin. What, with all the Yankee this, and Yankee that...it's out of control.
:)
Congrats, you hairless ape.

I thought IH already was an author here. He speaks with such wisdom and authority!
Posted by: rootbeerfloat | Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 02:51 PM
A hearty welcome, IH!
And who's complaining? SF was just commenting how many Yankee fans it takes to equal the brilliance of just two Sox fans. ;-)

always enjoy IH's posts. seems like a thoughtful guy who's not too self important for a good laugh. welcome aboard.
dc's missing too.....and that's a shame.

yeah, I miss those long strings of z's to break up the importance of an issue. Always good for a laugh. DC and I used to really go at it like three or four years ago, but we came around nicely.

My wife "Bongo" and I thank you for the warm welcome Brad...

IH great to have you on board. I felt this one coming soon!

I'd like to echo the 5-2 ratio observation - is this a strategy? There are plenty of good sf commenters. I haven't posted here regularly in a while (for which I apologize), but it's not like all the talent is on one side. SF and Paul SF hold up well, but let's try for some balance?
We'll even spot you yfs an extra poster or two given your position in the standings ;)
(This is nothing against the excellent gerb or any of the other yf posters, too)
