Out. Of. Control.

No doubt Jack McCormick was hogging the TV while Manny wanted to watch Muppet Babies.

Unrelated to the Manny story, but get a load of this loony. Disturbing.

Many being classy. If the help cant do their job assault them physically, what a terrible thing to do.

Does he get a free pass from the organization for this per usual? I sure wish I worked in a consequence-free environment.

According to sources, the Sox recently received a mailed threat, believed to be postmarked in Memphis, Tenn., which targeted black and Latin players, citing at least two by name.

The article should just say "Coco and Manny". We all know who would be targeted, Coco especially. Pretty crazy though.

Almost all of these guys, the high paid ones (and the lower paid ones who are helping their teams) work in consequence-free environments. It is an atmosphere that pervades professional sports, entertainment, etc.

Manny was a d*ck, it seems. As punishment the team should make him buy 16 tickets to every game the rest of the way and fill the seats with schoolkids or something.

I also think Nick deserves kudos for being the first baseball blog to successfully weave Maria Callas into a thread.

I did not sent the letter!!!!

Krueg in MEMPHIS, TN

I swear to god the letter wasn't from me, the only thing I've ever sent Manny was a folder with nude pictures of myself in it. Sending him anything else at this point would violate the restraining order.

Errr, that last comment may be construed as strange by some people. To clarify: Manny told me in a dream that he wanted--nay, needed--to see my naked body. Who am I to refuse that?

We find ourselves in uncharted territory.

I guess this is not a big deal, but it kind of is a big deal, though, no? Without seeing both takedowns, it's hard to evaluate which was more violent, although Chacon's is being reported to be.

The Astros actually released Chacon. The Red Sox should at least suspend Manny for a few games. Won't happen this week, though, of course.

This doesn't seem much different than Jim Rice getting into a dustup with a highly respected Red Sox personnel (can't remember who) over who was parking in whose parking space. Not good, but what can you do?

It's the ego that makes the athlete; it's the ego that breaks the athlete.

But considering Chacon actually brought the GM down by his neck, I'd say that's clearly worse than a shove, which still isn't good.

I'm not going to compare it to the Chacon situation, but I do think this is pretty bad. McCormick shouldn't have to worry about his physical or emotional safety at his job. Manny effectively compromised both. He should be punished.

It's hard for me to believe that a small-time role player would not be disciplined for attacking another employee of the Sox. It's also to believe that if Theo were the one pushed, greater punitive action would not be taken.

I like Manny's persona but this is a pretty despicable thing he did.

"McCormick shouldn't have to worry about his physical or emotional safety at his job."

Yup.

"I like Manny's persona but this is a pretty despicable thing he did."

Yup.

"Not good, but what can you do?"

Suspend him for 20 games?

First Youk, now the traveling secretary??? Is this the "let's see if this works to get me traded since nothing else has" start?

John Sterling is saying that the Sox traveling secretary is 68 years old. Is this hyperbole (Sterling's default) or is it true? If the latter, then I don't care how hard Manny pushed him. He is an a*s for doing it.

67 yo! I bet the guy was running at him and pointing at his head. That would excuse it.

Manny is our new Damon.
