Well, not to toot my own horn but the Yankees are 2-0 in June when I write the gamer. Tonight Darrell Rasner and the boys try and keep my their streak alive! Rasner and the Yankees will face off against Kyle Davies. No Posada tonight, but everything else seems status quo in the lineup.
According to Pete Abraham, Chris Britton was placed on the Disabled List with a rib cage strain. Joba's personal caddy, Dan Giese was recalled from Scranton in his place. Apparently Britton injured himself while warming up yesterday. Comment away!
YANKEES
Damon LF
Jeter SS
Abreu RF
Rodriguez 3B
Matsui DH
Giambi 1B
Cano 2B

Rasner RHP

I'm curious to see how Rasner bounces from his last start at the Twins.

I was on a plane and the game review I read didn't say anything about A-Rod issues. What'd he do Krueg?

ih- a-rod grounded into a double play in the first inning to kill a first and third situation. kinda set the tempo for the yankees offense. he had a double and a single but they were ultimately meaningless. he then struck out in eighth failing to move the runner over in a one run game. but for my money, cano striking out looking in the 9th would have hurt the most.

IH- rod summed it up...ARod has a shot to get us on the board twice and did his typical choke job with a DP and a K. Not that it was all his fault, he played solid D but I think we need the guy the guy to drive in some f-ing runs at some point. Rasner was $$$...pitched 8. Sucks they couldn't pick him up against the sorry-ass Royals. I'm sorry guys but we suck. I'm still pissed off this morning. Glad I don't get to see the game today...first time the Fox black-out rules go in my favor!
Three months until the NFL kicks off...

Hmmm. I have't been too annoyed with A-Rod this year. He has been pretty good. But given the offensive anemia that apparently was on display last night I would have probably wanted to strangle him too for not at least getting productive outs.
I do remember that it wasn't until June 30 last year that Jorge made his comments that the team didn't always seem to be trying, and whether causal or not, that marked the start of the team finally playing consistently well (great, actually).
But as I have felt since Hughes and IPK both clunked (and then got hurt) this year, I just don't have the confidence that our pitching can pull it together sufficiently. Although if you had asked me which half of Wang, Pettite, Mussina, and Rasner would be performing and which half would be struggling, I would have gotten it exactly wrong, so who knows. Maybe Moose and Rasner somehow keep this up, Wang rights his ship, Pettitte solidifies, and Joba works his way into a solid # 5 or even 4 spot in the coming weeks. Then we've got a shot.
But yeah - the feeling right now is not that hopeful.

It certainly isn't over yet but I feel like we are running out of time. That run last year was ridiculous and can we really expect it again this year? With this team? There are too many weaknesses right now and these next three weeks could be the season. We play a lot of crappy teams (not sure we can call other teams crappy anymore since we are as well?) and need to get going sooner rather than later. I guess we'll see...I'm ignoring them today. I just want to see Joba pitch tomorrow.
p.s. GO AWAY HILLARY CLINTON!!!
