Clutch hits from Alex and Giambi (the other way!) score two in the top of the first.
Wang skates by with three fly outs in the bottom of the inning. Not a promising start for the Wanger.

Cano first pitch ground out.
That big contract looking like an albatross.

Meaty is worthless.

Lakers vs Celtics has been great so far. Once this is over I'll be on Yankees duty!

John - Who are you cheering for in the basketball game? I don't really follow basketball so I can't figure out if a New Yorker hates Boston or LA more.
Posted by: rootbeerfloat | Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 11:49 PM
Cano makes a ton of hard hit outs. You would think eventually they start to fall? Cust (NJ's own) makes nice play on Robbies ball to end the inning.

I am rooting for LA! They are up 4 with 59 secs.
Posted by: John - YF | Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 11:51 PM
21.1 left Lakers up 4.
Posted by: John - YF | Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 11:54 PM
Game over. Lakers trail 2-1.
Posted by: John - YF | Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 11:55 PM
Nice play by Kurt Suzuki to nail Melky on bunt attempt.
Posted by: John - YF | Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 11:56 PM
Damon singles to right. Nice play by Buck to keep him at first.
Posted by: John - YF | Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 11:58 PM
Damon out trying to steal second on H&R.
Posted by: John - YF | Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 11:59 PM
Jeter goes down swinging. Going to bottom seven leading 2-1.

Wow, Wang is pacing himself nicely--60 pitches after 6.
The Yankees have been walked 6 times, and only have 2 runs? How the hell?
Posted by: Atheose - SF | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:05 AM
A's have runner on second, one out and TBuck is up. Need an out Wanger!
Posted by: John - YF | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:09 AM
Ball four to TBuck. A's have first and second one out. Carlos Gonzalez up.
Posted by: John - YF | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:11 AM
Bases loaded 1 out. Base hit by Gonzalez.
Posted by: John - YF | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:13 AM
meaty could have gotten him at third if he caught the ball...guess that's too much to ask. god he sucks. Wang meltdown time???
Posted by: krueg | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:14 AM
DP...thank god.
Posted by: krueg | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:14 AM
meaty?? who is meaty?
Posted by: rootbeerfloat | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:16 AM
Meaty is the English Bullie from MTV's Rob & Big...
JK...I'm fairly certain its Beat-A-Meat.
Posted by: John - YF | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:20 AM
Wang gets out of it. 81 pitches after 7, still great. If his count is still low does he stay out there for the 9th in a 1-run game? Mo has been struggling lately, though I think I still trust him more than Wang in the 9th.
Posted by: Atheose - SF | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:20 AM
John, I absolutely hate MTV and everything MTV related. It's for music goddamnit!
But Rob & Big is bloody hilarious. I wish I had a giant black body guard.

Here's Embree, maybe A's version of Farnsworth, if that's possible.
Before I finished my statement, Giambi gets hit to move Abreu to second.
Posted by: Lar | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:23 AM
Same here Ath but I watch the show for the dog. We have an English Bulldog as well.
Mustachio HBP, runners on 1st and 2nd 1 out ...Jorge up.
Posted by: John - YF | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:24 AM
Wow, Embree is brought in to get Giambi out and he hits him on the first pitch. Way to do your job.
Posted by: Atheose - SF | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:24 AM
Ahhh nice John. English bulldogs are sweet, despite being somewhat small. I like a good medium-to-large sized dog, like a husky or German shepherd or wolfdog.
Posted by: Atheose - SF | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:25 AM
The Yanks did not take advantage of it at all.
Posted by: Lar | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:29 AM
Mo must've pitched like 4 straight game, hasn't he?
Posted by: Lar | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:29 AM
Well Embree made quick work of Posada and Betemit, despite hitting Giambi on one pitch. Wang out for the 8th.
Posted by: Atheose - SF | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:29 AM
Betemit down swinging. Bottom 8.
Goodnight fellas.
Posted by: John - YF | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:29 AM
It sure feels like it, Lar. I can't imagine he's available for tonight.
Posted by: Atheose - SF | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:30 AM
G'night John.
Mo pitched June 7, 8, and 9th. This would be the 4th game in 5 days. Two of those games he gave up homeruns.
Posted by: Atheose - SF | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:31 AM
Wow ARod missed that catch by like two feet.
Posted by: Atheose - SF | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:32 AM
Im watching mlb.tv and the sound is repeating itself every 3 seconds. Wierd.
Woah, Wang is out after 83 pitches. Jose Veras is more reliable right now?
Posted by: Atheose - SF | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:33 AM
At least in theory, hehe
Posted by: Lar | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:45 AM
Clutch enough to get into trouble, but got out of it. One more inning to go.
Posted by: Lar | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:51 AM
Melky! Insurance runs always welcomed.
Posted by: Lar | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:52 AM
I'll say though, if Wang can correct himself, Moose stays on this pace (minus some), and Rasner can keep giving quality starts, this could be good for the Yanks.
Of course, it'll help if they can hit as well!
Posted by: Lar | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 12:56 AM
Okay, will lie on my bed. I hate west coast games. Good night everybody.
