The Sox moderators are around, but they are playing coy. Reason being I have just one loss to my name this season when I post the gamer. I normally only use my powers for good but poor IBM has nowhere to post and I am a bleeding heart. So here you go Sox fans, comment away.
PS - I jinxed this gamer...Ha Ha Ha
Boston's Lineup:
| D. Pedroia, 2B |
| K. Youkilis, 1B |
| D. Ortiz, DH |
| M. Ramirez, LF |
| M. Lowell, 3B |
| J. Drew, RF |
| J. Varitek, C |
| A. Cora, SS |
| J. Ellsbury, CF |

Thanks, John.
Bucky gets first six outs on 15 pitches.
We got through the first in less than 10 minutes.

Damn you for your jinx John!
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 07:22 PM
Buchholz needs only 15 pitches through the first 2 innings, thanks to a curveball that is working perfectly.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 07:23 PM
Baltimore up on the Yankees 1-0 already.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 07:26 PM
John reversed jinx it!
Posted by: Lar | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 07:29 PM
Lowell makes an error. That doesn't happen too often.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 07:35 PM
Buchholz gives up a hit to Mathis, who is hitting .218. That's as bad as 'Tek!
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 07:37 PM
Cora makes an error, run scores. Kendrick then singles, bases loaded with one out now.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 07:40 PM
Buchholz is using his slider and changeup to get ahead of batters, but then he's leaving the pitches after that right down the middle.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 07:42 PM
Taking the night off from baseball to watch Harold and Kumar 2.
Posted by: John - YF | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 07:49 PM
It sucked, John. Not nearly as good as the first.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:10 PM
Hey, the Sox have no hits. NO HITTER NO HITTER NO HITTER.
There, that should do the trick.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:19 PM
Statistic shown: Garret Anderson is one of two players to hit over .280 in 13 straight seasons. The other is Manny Ramirez."
This is false: Alex Rodriguez' lowest BA in the last 13 seasons is .285.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:27 PM
This game sucks. I can't believe the Sox are going to lose this game (possibly in a very embarrassing fashion) and then have to face Teixeira tomorrow, too. All while Tampa gets to play KC and the Yankees host the Orioles. Gah.
Posted by: stuck working | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:37 PM
Buchholz out, Hansen in. All in all he didn't do too bad; he's only one ER off of a quality start, assuming Hansen doesn't let these inherited runners score. Yeah, that's a big assumption.
Time to slow the game down like crazy; Hansen seems to do that well. This will make Lackey's arm go cold, and we'll knock him around in the bottom of the inning.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:47 PM
Atheose? For crying out loud, man, what are you doing to us? Don't you have a hurricane to walk out into?
Posted by: rootbeerfloat | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:47 PM
I'm not sure I like Hansen here, though I don't have a strong feeling about who'd be better.
Posted by: stuck working | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:48 PM
Just kidding, one of those runs was unearned.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:49 PM
Seriously RBF! I jinxed a game last week, last night I turned on the TV and Daisuke collapsed a few minutes later, and now this game has been screwed up. Though in my defense I've been here the whole time, whereas the previous trend was only when I would come in half-way.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:51 PM
Craig Hansen you POS. Bases now loaded.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:52 PM
Sac fly. Coulda been worse.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:53 PM
You jinxed the whole damn series when you told me you were looking forward to the Angels being in town.
Posted by: rootbeerfloat | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:55 PM
Sigh Cora takes his sweet-ass time on a grounder and Izturis beats out the throw, 6-0 Angels. The good news is that Youk throws to Varitek and gets another runner out at home.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:55 PM
All I can hope for at this point is that the Sox break up the no-hitter. They have no chance of actually winning this game. Beckett better be lights out tomorrow.
Posted by: stuck working | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:55 PM
But, uh, I... umm... shit. You're right I did.
As someone who is extremely superstitious when it comes to sports, I apologize. I should have known better.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:56 PM
NO HITTER NO HITTER NO HITTER NO HITTER.
There, I'm using my powers of jinxing for good instead of evil! And holy crap Ortiz missed a homer by just a few feet.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:58 PM
Wow, Manny getting a LOT of boos for not going 100%.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:59 PM
This is kinda surreal. It doesn't feel like a no-hitter. And not just because it's a visiting pitcher either.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:00 PM
What a time for Oki to shine.
Posted by: rootbeerfloat | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:04 PM
Oki doing well is a positive at least.
Time to break up this NO HITTER.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:08 PM
I can't believe the Sox just got no-hit. It would be embarrassing if the team were better.
Posted by: SF | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:14 PM
Papelbon in for some practice.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:15 PM
I like the way you jinx, SF!
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:16 PM
Is it a jinx if I actually thought the game was over? Or does that make it a better jinx?
Posted by: SF | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:17 PM
Does it count as a no-hitter if three spots in the lineup are filled by guys who should either be wheeling themselves to work or in AA ball?
Posted by: SF | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:19 PM
I think we'll have to go ahead and assume it's a double-jinx.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:19 PM
Free piece of advice for those with iPhones: do NOT bother with the "bubblewrap" application.
Posted by: SF | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:21 PM
Papelbon K's the .221 hitter. Lackey out, Ellsbury-Pedroia-Youk up. Not an easy task.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:22 PM
PEDROIA BREAKS IT UP!
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:26 PM
Best non-non-jinx ever, eh Ath?
Posted by: SF | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:26 PM
I think so, SF!
Youk homers! 6-2 Sox. Lackey's mojo is obviously gone.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:27 PM
Now if only I could do something about the Sox sucking against good teams, and on the road, and in close games, and...
Posted by: SF | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:29 PM
After the homer Lackey was screaming "Give me the fucking ball. GIVE ME THE FUCKING BALL" at the umpire/catcher. Wow
Ortiz pops up, though the Angels in the outfield almost mess it up. Come on Manny!
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:30 PM
Lackey is visibly upset, made especially obvious by that last pitch. He's gunna injure himself if he keeps this up.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:33 PM
Manny walks, pitching coach out to settle him down.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:33 PM
Ath - Really? That kind of makes me grin.
Posted by: rootbeerfloat | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:33 PM
I'm underwhelmed.
Posted by: I'mBillMcNeal | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:37 PM
Ray wins, 3-0.
Posted by: I'mBillMcNeal | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:38 PM
At least the Yankees lost, and we still have the wild card.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:39 PM
Excellent start to the second half, wouldn't you say!? We look great!
Long way to go, but things certainly don't look promising for the Sox right now, too much dead weight in the lineup to expect much production. Literally three blank spots every night, that's a lot to overcome.
I think these last few months should be a celebration of what Tek has brought to the Sox. Standing ovations every at-bat in thanks. But this really should be his last season with the team as a full-timer. Unless he wants to come back to play 40-50 games, I think that the proverb stands: to all good things must come an end.
Posted by: SF | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:41 PM
Uh, Ath, the Yankees haven't lost yet. Are you just practicing new forms of jinxing?
Posted by: stuck working | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:56 PM
Also, SF, I agree with about Tek, but who's going to catch for this team? Are you counting on the Sox trading for one of Texas' twelve catchers or what?
Posted by: stuck working | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:59 PM
"who's going to catch this team"
I'll worry about 2009 later on. The Sox can deal some of their minor league depth. Not an issue, at least not yet. For now, there's not much they can do, but I say in the offseason there needs to be a move made for the future.
Posted by: SF | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 10:06 PM
Uh, Ath, the Yankees haven't lost yet. Are you just practicing new forms of jinxing?
Apparently so, unintentionally. Yankees score 5 f*cking runs since I made my comment.
Between that comment and SF's no-hitter comment I think we've proven that accidental jinxes are the super-glue of the world of irrational superstitions.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 10:15 PM
Oh thank goodness Cano and Betemit strike out.
Posted by: Atheose | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 10:17 PM
Sheesh, Ath, I'm gonna ask the mods to start deleting your comments.
Posted by: rootbeerfloat | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 10:19 PM
I attribute those strikeouts to your acknowledging (and thus removing) your jinx. Just in time!
Posted by: stuck working | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 10:19 PM
"Free piece of advice for those with iPhones: do NOT bother with the "bubblewrap" application."
Explain...
Posted by: John - YF | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 11:03 PM
I got it SF. I searched the apps for Bubblewrap...it's a game.
My favorite new apps are AOL Radio (you can stream WFAN and KRock live). Livesports and weatherbug.
Posted by: John - YF | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 11:35 PM
it's the dumbest, most annoying game ever. Nothing but a noise machine, and an annoying noise at that. Sucks.
Pandora is a great app, check it out.
