Haven't been able to out-score 'em. Haven't been able to out-pitch 'em. Today, Jered Weaver is on the mound for LA while the Bombers counter with Mike Mussina, who is coming off his worst outing of the year. We just can't beat this team -- Angels own us. C'mon Yanks, prove me wrong.

Don't feel bad AG, apparently the Sox can't beat 'em this year either.

It feels pointless to be battling to make the playoffs. There is no way we can beat this team in October...

Sam I've said that every year they face them, but somehow, they Red Sox pull it off on them.
One thing to remember, things are never as good as they appear, and getting into the playoffs is all about who's hot at the right time (see 2007 Colorado Rockies and many, many more), and I think that the Halos are peaking way to early.
Yes they're talented, but they can surely be beaten.
They're probably really somewhere between what they were in May and July. Great team, but not the absolute dominant force they are showing right now.
On any give night those pitcers can be hit.

I agree with Brad and think Weaver will probably show that today. The real question, I think, is which Moose shows up.
Good thing I feel confident about the Sox with Lester on the mound. Now, if Detroit could do something about Tampa...

Game thoughts:
-I'm liking Nady.
-What's up w/ Mussina's socks? (at 5 k's and counting, he can wear pantyhose, i don't care)
-These last two games, our pitchers have shown that we CAN solve the Angel's lineup.
-Molina & Betemit HRs!!!!

Check out # of comments from yesterday: 157 for the Sox, 14 for the Yanks and tell me we ain't in the minority here.

> tell me we ain't in the minority here.
We ain't. There are more Yankee authors than Sox authors. The number of actual commenters by fan base are roughly equal; the number of comments vary depending on the game, but there are some highly prolific Sox commenters. Yesterday's Sox game was a huge deal for Sox fans; it's understandable that the thread was voluminous.

"...tell me we ain't in the minority here..."
ruh, roh...J, you're gonna strike a nerve now...go easy...
i'm happy the yanks won...could only watch the last couple of innings...at least the angels ain't always our daddies...

Are we really rehashing the whole "OMG Sox bias!" debate on this site again? Seriously guys?

nerve struck?...check
Posted by: dc | Sunday, August 03, 2008 at 08:15 AM
Or, you know, we're sick of having this same pointless argument again dc?
Posted by: Atheose | Sunday, August 03, 2008 at 11:22 AM
dc, cut it out. This isn't a "nerve being struck", it's a baseless comment. Gerb addressed it above, and Ath is right: there are 5 YF mods to two SF mods, and the comment volume varies by game, time of game, opponent, the news cycle, how the teams are playing, etc. Stop feeding this sentiment, please. It's not true.

And there is some chance that lots of SFs just have no life. So they are sitting by their computers commenting on a baseball game instead of being out actually doing something. Am I allowed to say that since I was one of them?

hmmm...i do believe my last post was deleted.

ok, i'll stop because i love you guys, and i like to play along...no other reason...no harm...i know the mod score is 5-2, but that's not consistent with the volume of posts [see paul, who is probably the most prolific, but i like him for his statiness, by the way, even if we frequently disagree] or the number of comments for the most part...but that's ok, i like being the underdog and being outnumbered...not worth it, and doesn't matter in the grand scheme, so i'll drop it...
