The new-fangled Yankees found out last night that without good starting pitching, Pudge and Xavier don't make that much of a difference. Good thing Sidney Ponson takes the mound tonight to set things straight. One gets the distinct impression that another poor performance tonight and he'll see his next start being made by Alfred E. Newman, whose tearing them up in Scranton W-B. No pressure Sidney. He'll face the Angels, who haven't lost a series since June and whose farts seem to turn into extra-base hits these days. Yankee line-up below as X-Man is day to day with a sore knee.
Watch if you dare - and comment away...
Damon - LF
Jeter - SS
Abreu - RF
A-Rod - 3B
Giambi - DH
Cano - 2B
Betemit - 1B
I-Rod - C
Melky - CF
Ponson - P

Before the game they're playing "Bye bye bye" on mlb.tv, while doing a video montage of Manny.
Sorry for putting this here, but there's no Sox gamer up yet. I'm tearing up a little bit.

Ohh, I just assumed you meant it was playing for Sidney and I teared up too. With joy.

HAHA no such luck for you IH. You're still stuck with him, even though he got through the 1st on 11 pitches.

Ponson pitches very well and then Mo comes in and blows it. Go figure. I know you can't do this but I think we should let someone else pitch in non save situations. Mo has been awful in these situations.
Anway, K-Rod vs A-Rod...Battle goes to K with a changeup that apparently hit the corner.

That's gotta be one of the most random Yankee losses in ages. Whatever. I'll take it!

Doesn't Girardi know by now not to use Mo in non-save situations?

paul's one of our respected stat-guys...if he says there's something to this idea of mo not being effective in non-save situations because of something that makes sense, then ok...otherwise, i'll just chalk it up to one of those quirky aberrations that helps make our game so loveable, and gives us something to chew on...

dc - My reaction exactly! Everytime someone is quoting stats, I just figure Paul will tell me what to think.
