The playoff push, that would have ensued had the Yankees showed up for this series, needs to be called off. Please don't tell me about the Rockies or other miraculous events regarding the wild card. The Yankees post-season streak is over. For the first time since I was a college Sophomore, the Yankees will not make the playoffs. If you told me be back then that the Yankees would make the playoffs thirteen straight seasons and have four more World Series titles I would have called you crazy. But back then I also thought Candlebox was going to be the best band ever, that Zima was the beer of the future and that A**hole was the greatest drinking game ever. It was a great run for us all, but in 2008 the Yankees are best served by not making the playoffs. This team isn't healthy or clutch enough right now to make a legitimate push in the playoffs. It's not going to be easy to watch baseball in October this year, but long term this is going to be beneficial, mark my word. (So what I was wrong about Candlebox and Zima, I am certain I right this time. I think.)

Carl Pavano put on waivers.

And I've spent many a night as A-hole; the game is simply awesome... but....Zima?
Posted by: Brad | Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 10:13 AM
I wouldn't admit to Candlebox.

I am nearing the big 3-0 and i still play smashhole whenever i binge drink with friends.

Absolutely, Ric. Although, we play a very similar game called President. I think they're the same thing.

I'm a man, I have no problem admitting when I am wrong. Candlebox was good, in 1995.
My A**hole days are over, but my Beer Pong days are in full effect. I am not ashamed of being a 33 year old Beer Pong addict.

I'll see you guys next year.

Hey, hey... HEY. A-hole *is* the greatest drinking game ever. Now f-ing drink cause I be pres-o-dent!

Pete Abe is reporting that Alfredo Aceves has been called up and is in the locker room as we speak.

It seems a lot of us are around the same age...33 here too.
Asshole is a great game, what about "Circle of Death" or "Kings"???? You can't be serious with Zima and Candlebox sucks but then again, so do the Yankees!!! Time to flip the page to football season YF's...pack it in for the year.
The big question is what changes will be made? Does C.C. even want to play in NY? Doesn't really seem so from what I've been reading...

Yeah, K.
My guess is LAA before it even starts. The article in SI last month said he's already started building a new mansion there, and loves California.

The other Orioles fans and I just moved over to make space for you on the non-playoff couch. We're used to sitting here but we'll let you hold the remote. Just don't pass it to my Phil's loving, overly gloating boyfriend, o.k.?

CC ends up with Dodgers that's my guess. LAA needs Tex more than CC.

Asshole, Name Game, Quarters, Beirut, Beer Die, Boat Races, Speed Quarters, Flip Cup...
I'm thirsty.

Flip Cup -
Herpes on a table. All that flipping your own cup onto everyone else's already partially consumed partially not consumed beer. Cups sliding all over a small layer of beer film coating the table.
Ugh. Once you think about it, this game gives you the creeps. ha.
Posted by: Brad | Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 12:25 PM
I actually think Manny will make a push at LAA as well. But you're right, LAD makes sense for CC as well.
I really, really hope that happens.
Posted by: Brad | Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 12:27 PM
Who the hell do we get then????
I am great at speed quarters! What about anchorman? It's amazing I graduated from college...I barely remember 1997!
Posted by: krueg | Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 12:29 PM
I graduated Thank the Laude.
Posted by: Brad | Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 12:39 PM
And I never in my life thougt I'd quote the 'ragin 'cajun, but he was our speaker for commencement, and that's the joke he told to the Cum Laude section, of which, I was not a part of.
I had a real major though, so really, I didn't mind:)

I don't know what this says about me but I like games, and I like drinking, but I never got really into drinking games. The game got in the way of actualy drinking too often. Or maybe the lack of a vibrant fraternity system at BU kept me from developing a proper appreciation for the pastime. Asshole was pretty fun though, from what I can remember. Beer pong too, though it wastes too much beer in my opinion.
I know it's early, but I'm thinking Angels-Brewers for the World Series this year, with LA prevailing. Cubs-Rays will have to wait for, uh, next year.

Cubs vs. Angels in WS...CUBBIES WIN!!!!

FSP -
I agree with some of that - especially the part about the Rays, who aren't even going to make the playoffs:)
Posted by: Brad | Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 12:53 PM
History isn't a real major Brad???
Pre-pharmacy, public relations, communications, education...
What are all of Krueg's major's in college Alex???
P.S. How about Fat Bobby ALMOST touching the wall last night on the play that he blew...I really thought he was going to make that play. NOT!
Posted by: krueg | Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 12:53 PM
you forgot about Politcal Science, but yeah, you get the point. ha.
Yeah, that catch was just terrible - or lack thereof.
We gonna get a gamer going? Work day gamers are the best. Also, why is this game, the last ever, being played in the middle of the freaking day?
Posted by: Brad | Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 01:06 PM
Go Cubs v. Rays. Yanks need to call up their young guys in September to see who can play and who can't.
Yanks would be crazy to re-sign their free agents. All this money and they can't score runs.
