That Time of Year...

Poetic words from and about the early winter season:

That Time of Year Thou Mayst in Me Behold
(Sonnet 73)
That time of year thou mayst in me behold
When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang
Upon those boughs which shake against the cold
-William Shakespeare-excerpt

The Unknowable and Jason Varitek
If you think about  physical conditioning,
he's got many more years to play in this game
When he's out there, this club is decisively different.
You're really talking about a guy that is inherently valuable.
In this day and time, what is a player like that worth?

Want (with a simile comparing Garret Anderson to Tony Gwynn)
He’s in the class of player
where he gets a chance to get
 3,000 hits like Tony Gwynn,
 This guy’s four years away...
He wants to play every day

Affirmation
We've received
a number of
offers

Oliver Perez Might Be Better Than Johan Santana
Really when you look at Johan's career,
this man has been in many ways self-made
His career path is much different than Oliver's.
Oliver was this budding superstar.
When did Johan come in in relief — 23 [years old]?
He didn't start to develop until 25, 26, to do what he does.
When you talk about the comeuppance of Santana, age-wise,
this is where Oliver had his first 15-game season at 26,
when Johan started to turn the corner.

Affirmation 2 (to the tune of "A Day in the Life")
I heard some very serious things today
that made me think there are going to be some clubs
that are going to be very aggressive in the free-agent process.

Johnny's Astonishment
It was basically not a raise.
It was something that really changed his feelings about Boston.
In his mind, that offer put him in a position that was difficult for him.
He was surprised by it.

IPN (a language poem about A-Rod)
Iconic magnetism,
historic Performance,
Network value

All poems are from Scott Boras's selected works except for the first.

Wake me up when baseball starts.

Hahaha! Nice. I especially liked "Affirmation".

Class. Nick. You still got it.

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Boras.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.
The Boras replied,
“The time when you have seen only one set of footprints in the sand, is when I carried your All Star catcher to Pittsburgh.”

Tremendous.
