What's Pinto talking about? All indications are that the Red Sox have made an offer. Henry's email all but spells that out -- "OTHER offers." So the Sox have bid. The big question is the Yankees, which turns this into more a game of poker -- the Sox have bid, the Yankees are deciding whether to go all in or fold.

I like Pinto, but its like he hasn't actually been paying attention...

He may have meant actively bidding, whatever that means...

Part of me feels that Hank is going to come to the table and go "We will give you 4 years 100 million." He will then swivel his chair to face out of the window while pyramiding his fingers together, grinning like the Cheshire cat. Teixeira and Boras will sit in stunned silence for a moment, and then slowly back out of the room, leaving Hank Steinbrenner staring out of the window unaware that he is now alone in the room.

Months later the above will be followed with a chance meeting, at a charity event, of Hank and John Henry. John perusing the fruit salad for grapes, Hank popping behind him "How about that Boras guy, eh? Totally unreasonable. I'll give you 100 million for four years. You have 24 hours before the deal is off of the table." At which point, John Henry will turn to see Hank Steinbrenner's shoulder disappearing into the crowd.
Henry will pull out his blackberry and email the most cryptic message he's ever written to the AP..."WTF!"

and....scene!

My only thought after reading the last two posts is that Christmas must be an entertaining affair in Nick's and Walein's family every year.

Olnesy says the Nationals don't expect to win the bidding, and the the Yanks did in fact make an offer that was later pulled off the table. Heh.

I'd love it if there were a mystery team and that team was the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The newest development in the Teixeira affair is that the Angels have withdrawn their offer and are out of the bidding. They think he wants to play on the East Coast and are being used to drive the price up.
