We're not used to seeing the Yanks knock around the Angels' bullpen, but that's exactly what the Bombers did last night. Posada and Cano were the heroes in yesterday's exciting come-from-behind victory. Both players have been great from day one, which is very encouraging since they were two of the bigger question marks going into the season. Cano has looked downright dominant and Posada's hitting and throwing seems unaffected by his shoulder surgery.
That's not to say the Yanks have done a great job overall this season. The bullpen has been inconsistent. The starters have been blah. Our old friend Pythagoras thinks the Yanks have been a bit lucky. As Brian Cashman says, “The pythagorean theorem would throw us out the door right now. We’re thankful that between the injuries and the inconsistencies that no one has run away from us.” Still, Pythagoras is all theory. The reality states the Yanks are very much in the mix. In fact, they're on a nice little winning streak. Today they try to make it five in a row. The big guy is on the mound. Comment on all the action here.

CC pitching well, but the Yanks are not hitting - Palmer holding them well. Maybe it'll be a battle of the bullpen again..
Leadoff double by Jeter wasted.

I have to watch it on gamecast...looks like a snoozer. Is CC pitching well? Looks like he has struggled all game as per usual. Maybe Teixeira will come up big??? hahahaha

This would be a good time for CC to get some strikeouts?
Posted by: krueg | Saturday, May 02, 2009 at 03:11 PM
Nice! There's one...come on CC, one more!!!

1-5...nice job dickhead.
Posted by: krueg | Saturday, May 02, 2009 at 03:21 PM
CC is quite the ace...laughable.
Posted by: krueg | Saturday, May 02, 2009 at 03:22 PM
Getting owned by some no-name rookie...great job guys. Way to play with any sort of consistency. I would be more pissed if I didn't figure CC was going to blow it...do we add him to the long list of Yankee busts? Probably too soon but he is on his way!

Cano got robbed and it might hurt them.. Palmer comes out after a hit and a walk.

John Sterling with a classic:
Gardner takes a ball high, runs the count to 4-0, gets out of the box and comes back in. Oh, it's 3-1, no one can pay attention to the count..*
*Not verbatim, but close enough..

Even the Captain choking today...

Jeter could not bring any in. Bah.
Posted by: Lar | Saturday, May 02, 2009 at 03:38 PM
How many times have we had the bases loaded this season and got ZERO runs...at least three I can think of?
Posted by: krueg | Saturday, May 02, 2009 at 03:38 PM
Veras is a joke.
Posted by: krueg | Saturday, May 02, 2009 at 03:45 PM
It's quite a lot.. at least this time it was with two outs, so at least it's like.. well.
But yaaaa..

Tesh really has warning track power thus far. So many hits die there..
Posted by: Lar | Saturday, May 02, 2009 at 03:56 PM
Same old Yankees...follow up a win by getting ass-pounded once again. Pathetic.

wow you guys are hilarious. It was one loss after a 4 game winning streak. The opposing pitcher pitched great, the game of his life. Sometimes you just get beat in baseball...The pen is the real issue now and Id be surprised if there isnt a change coming very soon. CC really pitched well until that very last inning. Joe needs to yank him sooner but given the state of the pen is letting his SPs go too long...Changes will come, this team is playing well right now and is going to get better. Be patient!

I know, I know...I'm just pessimistic. I'm from Buffalo.

Don't lump krueg with me! I'm totally more optimistic, kind of, haha..
