C.C. takes the mound as the Yanks attempt to avoid getting swept dropping another series at the hands of the Marlins and Chris Volstad. Lineups follow, comment away.

CC out in the 2nd...some kind of injury. Game is over. Season is over.
Posted by: krueg | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 05:45 PM
what happened to cc?
Posted by: rootbeerfloat | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 05:45 PM
About to lose yet another series...awesome. That and our only good pitcher...sweet. Just kill me now.
Posted by: krueg | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 05:47 PM
Yeah what happened to CC? Does it seem like a long-term problem? The Yanks are in trouble if Sabathia is out for anything more than a month.
Posted by: Atheose | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 06:06 PM
Tightness in the bicep, day-to-day.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 06:18 PM
Sabathia: tightness in his left bicep. That's an unusual injury.
Posted by: Atheose | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 06:18 PM
Long at bat by Melky ends with a pop-up.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 06:24 PM
Gardner legs out a 2-hopper to Hanley for an infield single.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 06:26 PM
Great running grab by Melky.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 06:31 PM
No tests are schedule for CC, which seems to confirm that the Yankees are just taking it very, very easy with CC. Smart thing to do. And they don't even necessarily sacrifice the game, as the Yankees' very good (and very unheralded) starting pitching depth allows them to easily construct a game out of their bullpen.

Although I have no idea why Brett Tomko is pitching in a 2-run game. I guess they want to save Aceves for Tuesday.
Posted by: AndrewYF | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 06:42 PM
Tomko comes on and promptly gives up a two run shot to Hanley. Blah.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 06:48 PM
Hating the result, but man what a beautiful swing.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 06:49 PM
Add Tomko to the long, distinguished group of losers on this team...
Another series lost as this pathetic team falls deeper into the abyss of mediocrity at best..
Posted by: krueg | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 07:03 PM
Just need to go 1-6 for the rest of the trip to make my prediction on 2 wins...shouldn't be a problem for this group.
Posted by: krueg | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 07:08 PM
it is embarrassing to watch this putrid team play. just awful.
Posted by: krueg | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 07:08 PM
1-2-3 inning again...this team has no heart, no balls, no pride, no anything. Just a f-cking laughing stock of over-hyped losers and mercenaries.
Posted by: krueg | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 07:10 PM
every other team in our division won...should be back in 4th place where we belong soon enough. losers.
Posted by: krueg | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 07:11 PM
Coke in...let's see how many runs he can give up??? not that it matters, it's already over. Not like any of our hitters are actually going to come through anyways...

Was listening to Francesa interview Girardi on Friday on WFAN. He put Joe through an absolute GRILLING. Things I learned:
Francesa seems to believe that there are massive clubhouse issues. Burnett hates Posada. Posada hates Girardi. Veterans in general dislike Girardi. Girardi pooh-poohed this, was pretty convincing. Except for the Burnett/Posada thing. He started off wishy-washy, like he didn't want to acknowledge this issue publicly, then he found his legs and said it wasn't an issue. Curious - any of you YFs hear about a Burnett/Posada feud? I live in NYC and hadn't heard about one, it came as a surprise to me.

Can more things go wrong for the Yanks?
Posted by: Lar | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 07:32 PM
Comedy of f-cking errors...
Posted by: krueg | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 07:32 PM
And of course, they might score 2 in the 9th before losing again, making it all the frustrating..
Posted by: Lar | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 07:33 PM
What? You mean the Yankees aren't a closely formed bunch of fun-loving pranksters?
I remember hearing that Burnett had an issue with catchers in Toronto, though I'd have to do some research to find out more info.

> YFs hear about a Burnett/Posada feud?
No, I had not heard specifically about AJ and Jorge having something direct, but I had heard rumors that there was "uncomfortable-ness" (yes, I know it's not a word) in general between the starters and Jorge.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 07:34 PM
I don't know about a feud, but in the Daily News, I think Burnett had said at some point that he was more comfortable with Cervelli.
And we know about Moose, so go figure.

Down three runs, so let's have a technicality argument over a lineup card issue and completely drag the game into the region of awful. But it looks like Joe got his point across about the illegal player. I think. Jeter pops out to center as play gets underway after a 2-hour legal battle.

Yes. PLEASE yes.
Posted by: SF | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 07:51 PM
Marlins announcers=annoying.

Hey, you already got your dad's day present. No need to be greedy!

Posada hits a two-out single to bring up Melky.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 08:06 PM
Now Melky with ground ball up the middle just past a diving Uggla to bring Gardner as the tying run to the plate in the form of Brett Gardner. Stomach dunt feel gud right now.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 08:09 PM
Gardner triples to the right-center corner to make it 6-5.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 08:10 PM
Damon to pinch with Gardner on third with two away.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 08:10 PM
Damon takes a ball, then another pitch inside to make it 2-0. Damon rips a hard shot foul up first, turning too quickly on a fastball.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 08:12 PM
The 2-1 is a slider way outside, way high. 3-1: Damon takes high. First and third, Jeter to the plate. Pena to run for Damon.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 08:13 PM
Jeter hits the first pitch sharply to Hanley, who throws to Uggla for the force to end the game.
Andrew, I'm really pissed at you right now. It is your fault.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 08:15 PM
Ooops.. I meant to say Lar. Whatever. PISSED.

What do I win for my prediction?

Prepping a Lar-shaped voodoo doll to stick with needles for your soothiness.
