Farrah Fawcett died today as well. Both were icons at different times, though Jackson was obviously on another plane. Sad day.

Farrah Fawcett hurts more, somehow.
I remember when she was IT...her first big splash.
To me, MJ was what came to mind (the glove thing) when I saw Arod's slap incident.....another symbol of wretched cultural excess.
But then, I always preferred Schubert..........

Also regarding Farrah Fawcett... on the radio they were doing a phone topic: "who's your favorite person whose first and last name start with the same letter?" Someone called in and said "The steroid triplets: Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire."
I thought that was a humorous answer.

Oh, I certainly remember "Happy Birthday Lisa", Lar. That was right when I got into The Simpsons. Just another weird little star in the legend of Michael Jackson.
The breadth of his catalog really is impressive. We played songs of his at our wedding (this year). That's how good his music is; it overpowers what a wreck of a person he became. The cold truth, for me, is that it's a tragedy for those who knew him, but his death prevents him further tarnishing his legacy.
