While rumors continue to swirl around the Jays' recent decision to put 10-game winner Roy Halladay up for bid, the Sox will bring a 10-game winner to the mound for the second day in a row. Suck it, Toronto!

Our guys have plainly forgotten how to hit. No hits through three and Cahill has needed just 37 pitches. How do we make all these youngsters look like future hall of famers?

The various looks on OCab's face after he struck out swinging on some serious Wake knuckle action just now were hilarious.

Drew homers to tie it, 1-1.
The Sox are only being outhit, 8-2.

Pedey singles, Yooks walks
Posted by: I'mBillMcNeal | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 08:43 PM
AND THEN PAPI HOMERS TO MAKE IT 4-1!
A BLAST TO DEEP RIGHT.

Bay strikes out on a 3-2 foul tip for the first out.
Now we have a pitching change. Yalie Craig Breslow coming on.

Ells singles, nearly gets picked off but OCab misses the tag and Ells gets an SB, his 37th.
Posted by: I'mBillMcNeal | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 08:51 PM
Kotsay singles, runners on 1 & 3 w/ 1 out; Nick Green up.

With 8 Ks already, Wakes is also now in line for win #11, assuming the Sox can hold onto this lead... /nojinxes

Michael Wuertz, the ex-Cub, replaces Breslow.
...
mlb.com gameday has posted Papi's homer video.
He just freakin' crushed it into the wind.

Great inning to come home to!
IBM, how's your dad doing in recovery?
Posted by: Atheose | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 08:58 PM
Wake pulled after a couple of singles. Huge ovation for the All Star.

I haven't heard anything since early this afternoon, but the docs were very pleased with the way the surgery went. They expect him to make a full recovery.
I would think he'd be in a private room and off the ventilator by now.
I hope to hear something soon.
And thanks for asking.

Big K for MDC.
Posted by: I'mBillMcNeal | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 09:10 PM
That was a strike to Suzuki!
Posted by: Atheose | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 09:18 PM
That's some BS right there. Strike 3 to Suzuki called a ball, and then a single plates 2 runs. Both charged to Wake.
Posted by: Atheose | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 09:20 PM
Manny actually lowered his ERA with that outing.
Posted by: AndrewYF | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 09:22 PM
Diving play by Pedroia keeps the tying run from scoring.
Posted by: Atheose | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 09:23 PM
Looks like Ram^2 will be getting the save tonight.
Posted by: Atheose | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 09:49 PM
Nevermind, Paps is there after all.
Posted by: Atheose | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 09:53 PM
Well it looks like this isn't going to be easy.
Posted by: Atheose | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 09:59 PM
Christ. what's he throwing?
Posted by: I'mBillMcNeal | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 10:02 PM
Big K to Holliday.
Posted by: I'mBillMcNeal | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 10:05 PM
Suzuki won't be an easy out, either.
Posted by: I'mBillMcNeal | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 10:05 PM
Tying run at 2nd.
Posted by: Atheose | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 10:09 PM
Ack.
Here comes all-or-nothing Cust.
MLB Network doing a live cut-in.
Posted by: I'mBillMcNeal | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 10:09 PM
We have inefficient Paps tonight.
Ram squared up in the pen, now.
Posted by: I'mBillMcNeal | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 10:10 PM
I honestly think Paps is our secret playoff weakness this year. I'm just waiting for the huge meltdown in the big spot - he's really, really not the same pitcher he was.
Posted by: Micah-SF | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 10:11 PM
Agreed Micah, he's pitching like Daisuke: lots of baserunners (1.324 WHIP) with a ridiculously low ERA (1.70).
AND HE BLOWS ONE BY CUST! Wakefield now the sole wins leader in the AL.
Posted by: Atheose | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 10:13 PM
Game!
And it only took 30 pitches by Paps.
Wakefield gets his 11th win.
Posted by: I'mBillMcNeal | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 10:13 PM
Phew.
Paps is walking too many guys.
Posted by: Devine | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 10:20 PM
I think Ell's got the benefit of Jeter's call (or missed call) on the ol' ball beat you there thing in that pick off. OCab definately missed (well, he did actually get him on the foot) but normally he would have been called out.
