What a great game by Pettitte last night. The Yankees are putting a nice stretch together since the Texas series. Tonight, AJ Burnett is on the mound for the Yankees, who face Damon Hernandez for the Orioles. Lineups follow, comment away.

Sox gamer?
Posted by: I'mBillMcNeal | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 07:18 PM
AJ gives up a solo HR, because he sucks, but the real story is as FELIX PIE (the power threat that HE is) is running around the bases AJ points at him and with a disgusted look on his face says..."this motherfucker???" I.E., I cannot believe I gave up a HR to this loser...
O's bench didn't like it...
They are rocking AJ. He sucks.
0-1
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 07:18 PM
AJ gets out of it only giving up 1 run...they all hit him HARD though. I believe it's because he completely sucks. That's my theory.
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 07:21 PM
oh, hey there Krueg. The worst part about the Yankees winning (you know, other than the Yankees winning) is that I miss your rants.
Posted by: rootbeerfloat | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 07:24 PM
I'm feeling mellow these days...no need to yell.
Cano bomb. 2-1 good guys.
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 07:27 PM
Hinskie on with a 1 out single...
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 07:30 PM
Melky fielder's choice, then to 2nd on a wild pitch, Jeter walks, 2 outs...
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 07:34 PM
Hey guys. Kr,did AJ do that after the home run?I was setting up the computer and didn't see, just heard. And the bad thing for the not Yankees fans is that they can't even celebrate when we start losing, the offense comes right back ;)
Posted by: MikeFidborg-YF | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 07:37 PM
Nothing doing for the good guys...AJ back to his old tricks, leadoff single...
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 07:39 PM
He did dude...it was hilarious. Insulting to Pie? Sure. But still hilarious.
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 07:40 PM
I'll look for it later when I watch the rerun.
Looks like if AJ doesn't start to strikeout guys soon he'll get hit all night long by this joke team.See? Another hit. He should have had a class with Andy from last night.
Posted by: MikeFidborg-YF | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 07:44 PM
He just looks awful...he needs to get it together before the playoffs start. At this point I don't want him starting ANY big games.
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 07:46 PM
Great catch in foul ground by ARod to save AJ ass...
More runs. Now.
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 07:47 PM
HIP HIP HR!!!!!! 3-1!!!!!!
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 07:51 PM
AJ is all over the plate and the batting boxes. He'd need a strike zone the size of a bay window to get anything in his favour.
Posted by: MikeFidborg-YF | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 07:59 PM
AJ is f(*#$@ing dreadful tonight. I so hope the offense set those O's pitchers on fire.
Posted by: MikeFidborg-YF | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 08:07 PM
Where the fuck is James?
Someone tell him Drew just hit a 2-run homer.
Just sayin'.
Posted by: I'mBillMcNeal | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 08:10 PM
Damn,take a 30 day rest then,see if it helps,AJ. Joe should put a rookie call up now,hm?
Posted by: MikeFidborg-YF | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 08:10 PM
Burnett is horrible. This is unreal. 3-3
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 08:16 PM
Come on IBM...really? Are we doing stuff like that now?
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 08:17 PM
See,kr? Such an AZZ-WEAK outing. And the offense giving up K's to this guy.Man.Damn game.
Posted by: MikeFidborg-YF | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 08:19 PM
I think we're going to be OK, although this is a sloppy game, but AJ is starting to worry me. He is not right.
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 08:21 PM
Captain clutch trying to carry the team on his back. keep going capitain
Posted by: MikeFidborg-YF | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 08:21 PM
And I can't wait for the late game burst of offense,I got stuff to do now. Be back later, hoping the Yanks on top.
Posted by: MikeFidborg-YF | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 08:23 PM
HIP HIP HR AGAIN!!!! 5-3!!!!
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 08:39 PM
AJ doesn't cover 1st...single. Tex knocks it down, scrambles, makes the flip AND...no one is there.
He is really starting to piss me off now.
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 08:51 PM
...another single. 1st and 2nd, no outs. AJ going to give it right back. Come on dude. Are you really this bad???
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 08:52 PM
I don't know what is funnier: AJ's reaction to the Pie HR or Jorge mistakenly thinking he struck out and then hitting a HR two pitches later.
As for AJ's pitching tonight, it is not at all funny.
Posted by: IronHorse | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 08:54 PM
5-6. Get him out Joe. He's done. I cannot believe what I am watching. Just a pathetic shell of a pitcher. Atrocious.
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 08:55 PM
Leaves him in...double. Still no outs. F-ck.
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 08:58 PM
Good D saves AJ's bacon again...only 5-6. Need some more offense and a new pitcher.
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 09:01 PM
A-Rod is sooooo much more likely to make an error on a routine throw to first when he takes his time and airs it then when he is forced to make a great play and throw off balance or under pressure. Totally reminiscent of Redford's Sundance Kid in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid when he can only hit a target when he is moving.
Time to see if Marte can bring that ERA back to single digits. One quick out...
Posted by: IronHorse | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 09:31 PM
What the HELL was Cano doing there?!?!?! He is very lucky he made that circus catch. Hinske was standing right there calling him off and Cano decides that an over the shoulder arm fully extended catch is what is called for?? This is just an ugly game in every way except for the Yank bats. AJ was missing the zone by feet and the D has been alternatung between stellar and really sloppy.
Posted by: IronHorse | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 09:35 PM
Cano crazy hot at the plate right now. Leadoff dble. Need runs.
Posted by: IronHorse | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 09:36 PM
Absent-mindedness aside, Cano's a hell of a player.
Posted by: AndrewYF | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 09:36 PM
SWISH BOMB!!!! 8-6!!!
This game is like...a rollercoaster baby, baby...I wanna ride...
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 09:37 PM
Swisher ain't half bad himself. Deal of the offseason right there.
Posted by: AndrewYF | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 09:37 PM
Swisher with his second go-ahead HR in 2 days! Awesome. And he is so much more affordable than...oh forget it.
Posted by: IronHorse | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 09:37 PM
BACK-TO-BACK JACKS!!!! HINSKIE!!!! 9-6!!!!
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 09:38 PM
I read that thread...rowdy.
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 09:38 PM
Even without the help of Yankee Stadium, the Yankees would probably still be leading the majors in HRs. Kind of puts a damper on the 'joke ballpark' angle, as much of the reason for the increase in dingers is the Yankees' much-improved lineup.
Posted by: AndrewYF | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 09:39 PM
This offense is crazy. Seriously. Hinske adds to the fireworks.
Posted by: IronHorse | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 09:39 PM
Isn't Chris Ray the guy who gave up a walkoff grand slam to A-Rod in April of '07?
Posted by: AndrewYF | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 09:40 PM
GREAT HUSTLE BY MELKY!!!! SAFE!!! Robbie should pay attention to Melky...
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 09:41 PM
Yep. Love that guy. I'm bummed he's out...
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 09:41 PM
Agreed Andrew.
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 09:41 PM
I'm literally rooting against Jeter getting too many hits (as long as they can still hold this lead) as I want the Yankee hits record to come at YS next week and to be there for it. Love Gehrig more than any other player but if the record's gotta fall, Jeter is a great one to do it.
Posted by: IronHorse | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 09:47 PM
Bad BABIP luck for Teix. A-Rod...put this one outta reach...
Posted by: IronHorse | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 09:51 PM
How many hits to the record,IH? Because the way Jeter is hitting, like 2-3 hits per game,it's getting close fast.
Posted by: MikeFidborg-YF | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 09:53 PM
Great catch by Swisher, who has played well in left and right tonight. Not every team can be so lucky...
Posted by: IronHorse | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 10:02 PM
He's 9 away from tying Gehrig with the rest of this game plus 5 more before returning to NY on Monday. It's very conceivable that he'll be on the brink on Mon or Tues. If so, I'll go to both if I have to. That's one record I'd like to be there for.
Posted by: IronHorse | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 10:08 PM
Nice catch by Jorge. On to the 9th. Just think, if we add 5 more runs to this lead then Joe can put in Bruney just long enough for the O's to get within striking distance.
Posted by: IronHorse | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 10:27 PM
Rivera hasn't gotten 40 saves in a season since 2005. He's well on his way this year.
Posted by: AndrewYF | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 10:40 PM
Mo gave up a hit? Blasphemy.
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 10:43 PM
Yeah Andrew - it seems every year he breaks one of his own records. This year it is his streak of converted saves.
And the O's get a man on...
Posted by: IronHorse | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 10:43 PM
Rivera can't put guys away today...
Posted by: AndrewYF | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 10:45 PM
A nice lazy DP turned by Cano. 34 straight saves for Mariano...what's his record?
Posted by: AndrewYF | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 10:47 PM
Yankees win. Nice. Keep on rolling boys.
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 10:47 PM
It's almost inconceivable how effortless he makes saving games look.
Posted by: IronHorse | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 10:47 PM
He already set it -- it was 30 I think but have to check. He's at 34 now - and counting.
CC tomorrow. Finish the sweep!!!
Posted by: IronHorse | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 10:49 PM
Ah,feels good to breathe the cleaner air here on top, thank you Yankees. Not AJ.Bullpen did their job well,a relief(no pun intended) after a meltdown. And Texas is winning the second game of the day against Toronto! Same score of the first so far. Jays suck. Devil Rays too.
Posted by: MikeFidborg-YF | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 10:56 PM
Great win considering AJ was flat out awful. The offense is clicking and the bullpen seems to get more reliable daily.
As for AJ, that was a d@ck move. To throw your hands up and say "this f@cking guy" is flat out wrong. I'm sure it's frustrating being winless over the past 5 weeks but that's unacceptable. You just don't show guys up like that. With that said, all world offense or not without him being "right" come playoff time the Yankees are in trouble. Eiland and Girardi need to right the AJ ship ASAP.
Posted by: John -YF | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 11:44 PM
Does anyone have a video of what Burnett did? The vids on mlb.com don't show it.
In Burnett's defense, it's crazy when guys like Felix Pie are hitting opposite-field homers.
Posada losing the count twice was amusing. Must have been preoccupied thinking of what pitches to call.
Posted by: Atheose | Wednesday, September 02, 2009 at 06:31 AM
I doubt they'll show the replay Ath, he CLEARLY says, "...this motherfucker?" I mean, an 8 year old could read his lips...
Posted by: krueg reincarnate | Wednesday, September 02, 2009 at 09:07 AM
Ath, just turn on SportsCenter, they have showed it about 20 times since last night. It's in their highlight reel from the game.
Posted by: John - YF | Wednesday, September 02, 2009 at 09:12 AM
Damnit, that sucks cause I'm at work. Hopefully it'll be on TV when I get home later.
Posted by: Atheose | Wednesday, September 02, 2009 at 09:25 AM
I missed the 1st inning, so I didn't see that. Totally bush league by AJ there.
And, maybe he's surprised, but Pie always had power. It's just that he makes Cano look patient.
