Posted by: walein | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 07:21 PM
"just waking up"
Read that and hoped it would be signed by Mark Teixeira's bat. Alas, it was only you Nick. Good morning anyway!

jeter in the hole! yeah!!!!
but wasn't mary j. just the fucking bomb!? best stadium anthem rendition of all time.
but gah, a cheapie off the plate for victorino.
1 on 1 out
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:00 PM
Allright. Andy gets the sweet DP on Utley.
Posted by: walein | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:02 PM
YEAH!!!!!!!!
Chase the pomade king down in a 463dp
BRING ON PEDRO!!!! LET'S GO YANKS
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:03 PM
Teixeira is fantastic at first. What a blessing even if he isn't hitting as well as one might wish.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:03 PM
can we talk a bit more during the break here about mary j? the glasses came OFF.
big time in the boogeydown. that was awesome.
okay LETS GO DJ!!!!
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:04 PM
Hopefully Jeter has a better idea this time against Pedro.
Posted by: walein | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:06 PM
WHOA!!!! JD ks on the SLOW curve after jeter rips one to left but caught. damn.
come on tex.
i see homers in our future.
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:09 PM
TEx still don't got it!
Posted by: walein | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:11 PM
tex goes to 3-2, puts one to the track. man. two big shots and nothing to show. but if andy can hold off the phils.....
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:11 PM
Teix gives it a ride to right, but Pedro has a clean inning.
Posted by: Hudson | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:12 PM
Martinez is pitching like a 45 played at 33 1/3
teix just misses. 123 for PeteySlowMan.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:12 PM
I want to see Pettitte really jam Werth with the cutter
Posted by: walein | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:15 PM
Those line drives are going to drop on Pedro very soon.
Posted by: doug YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:15 PM
3-1 werth = danger
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:16 PM
Pedro is topping out at 84 mph. Should we have been worried about him on 5 days' rest instead of Andy on 3?
Posted by: doug YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:17 PM
Andy needs to get the balls inside inside. None of that missing over the plate to werth.
Posted by: walein | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:17 PM
outside corner fastball to 3-2 and then a beauty slider for 3-2 but loses him on another one outside.
ibanez.
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:18 PM
But, according to FOX, Pedro is "wily."
Posted by: Hudson | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:18 PM
ibanez: 1st pitch pop to swish. 2 down
pettitte hndling the lefties.
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:19 PM
Nice quick pop out on Ibanez. Strange camera work by Fox on the pop out itself.
Posted by: walein | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:19 PM
Looks like that outside part of the plate is going to be called inconsistently.
Posted by: walein | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:20 PM
first pitch curve to feliz.
they've seen feliz hit the fastball so maybe they make him swing at a curve now?
fastball outside to 1-1
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:20 PM
slider now: 2-1.
he should get a red fastball now. don't wanna go 3-1 here.
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:21 PM
> according to FOX, Pedro is "wily."
they also said brilliant and a superb craftsman when slurping him last start.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:22 PM
Peter Happy retired. Well done, Andy.
Posted by: doug YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:22 PM
bad call. bad pitch. pettitte throws a slider in the dirt and werth advances.
but, phew, feliz pops the inevitable 3-1 heater to jorge.
bad, but good.
alex leads off. if he gueses right, it's 1-0 and there's a souvenir 450 away.
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:23 PM
It's the excruciating thing about Pettitte. All that silliness with Werth at first and fucking Pedro Feliz at the plate, and then he just throws a wild pitch. Then he remembers to throw a fastball down the middle so Feliz can pop out behind the plate, like he's done 75 percent of his career.
Posted by: walein | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:23 PM
Philly fails to capitalize on a walk an a wild pitch. 24 for Pettitte.
Posted by: Hudson | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:24 PM
Those levis commercials kind of freak me out.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:24 PM
alex vs pedro:
1-0 low
2-0 waaay inside
3-0 low and away
just walk him here, right?
yep.
ball 4. high and in.
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:27 PM
That would have been the furthest Matsui homerun ever if the timing had been better
Posted by: walein | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:28 PM
Buck, we don't need you to say the speed of every fricking pitch.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:29 PM
AG,
I know. It's like you guys put that number up on the screen and so we know what the speed is if we want to know.
Posted by: walein | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:31 PM
matsui:
0-1 not sure what that was. little tailing fball
0-2 rips a hi fball foul and deep
1-2 wastes one high. hm doesn't chase
2-2 just wide. just.
2-2 fastball pulled just wide of 1st
lots of dallying.
throw to first.
3-2 ball inside
this is kind of epic.
throw to first. alex back.
....
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:32 PM
Pedro now getting up to 89. Was he just saving it in the first?
Posted by: AndrewYF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:33 PM
Hideki!!!!
Posted by: attackgerbil | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:33 PM
DESTROYED
Posted by: walein | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:33 PM
....
3-2 low fastball golfed foul into the stands
UPPER DECK SHOT! 2-0
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:34 PM
HUGE - wearing my Matsui t-shirt from his opening day grand slam !!!!
Posted by: openid.aol.com/skunkwade | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:34 PM
TOWERING shot from Godzilla.
Tokyo lies in ashes.
Posted by: doug YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:34 PM
Epic indeed.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:34 PM
epic. you could see it coming. great at bat. glad we have the whole thing for the record.
now. jorge. MAKE HIM WORK.
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:35 PM
Hideki looked like he was taking BP against Pedro.
Should we get one of those three-quarter cages out to the pitcher's mound?
Posted by: doug YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:36 PM
just a titanic at bat by matsui. 7 pitches. 2 throw overs. back from 0-2. huge.
posada ks on high heat
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:36 PM
Jorge looked lost up there.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:37 PM
Fans are too quiet we need to get on Pedro more - he is too crafty to not kick in the nuts while he's down.
Posted by: openid.aol.com/skunkwade | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:38 PM
@attackgerbil Jorge's looked a bit lost all year. Just sayin'.
Posted by: openid.aol.com/skunkwade | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:39 PM
Matsui has long had Pedro's number. 2-0 NY, Martinez at 37 pitches.
Posted by: Hudson | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:39 PM
yanks hitting lots of balls on the nose, so a little disturbing they've only got two out of it.
but pedro does look naked out there. he's doing it with mirrors.
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:40 PM
francisco 5-3.
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:43 PM
If for no other reason the Yanks need to win this to remove Tim McCarver and Jack Buck from my life for the next few months.
Posted by: openid.aol.com/skunkwade | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:44 PM
u guys are my eyes and ears for this one. Not at all shocked by Matsui coming up huge. Don't know if Fox is talking about it but he has been a monster in the post-season. And in general, if I had to pick a Yankee to be up in a clutch spot, he would be right at the top of the list with Jeter and the odd-year (and '09 post-season) version of A-Rod.
Posted by: IronHorse (YF) | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:45 PM
catcher hits a trip. ugh.
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:45 PM
not sure why Jeter held the relay throw, thought they had a shot...
Posted by: openid.aol.com/skunkwade | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:46 PM
Oof, Gardner, bad play on that carom.
Sac fly scores Ruiz. Feck.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:47 PM
Strange carom flummoxes Gardner, turns a double onto a triple for Ruiz. Rollins gets him home with a sac fly. 2 out, 2-1.
Posted by: Hudson | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:47 PM
Freaking lucky bounce for Ruiz. If that ball hits the wall an inch higher, it goes off the plexiglass and Gardner fields it easily.
Posted by: doug YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:48 PM
APet at 37 after three turns.
Posted by: Hudson | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:49 PM
> monster in the post-season
IH, fox only talks about phillies that are having monster posts.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:49 PM
Wide strike to Gardner for 1st pitch of bottom three -- now he's defending wide.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:52 PM
striking out on an 86 mph fastball isn't good.
Posted by: openid.aol.com/skunkwade | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:52 PM
garnder the only yankee overmatched by pedro's heater.
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:52 PM
victorino botches a liner by jeter. that should be an error but dj gets a single.
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:53 PM
Shane Victorino catching FAIL
Posted by: doug YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:53 PM
Jeter! Victorino misread the drive.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:53 PM
down 2-0 to jd.
fouled off: 2-1.
definitely rally potential here.
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:56 PM
weird blimp shot of old stadium. all dark.
Posted by: openid.aol.com/skunkwade | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:57 PM
bb for jd.
tex and alex now w/ 2 men on. time to put the hurt on here.
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:59 PM
phone call to bullpen by one of the doobie brothers.
Posted by: openid.aol.com/skunkwade | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 08:59 PM
tex pegged in the thigh. loaded.
that hurt.
here's alex.
pedro in a world of hurt here.
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:00 PM
Wheels coming off the Crazy Pedro Train. He needs a double play here like Ozzy needs rehab.
Posted by: Hudson | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:01 PM
A-Rod is chomping at the bit to smash the ball.
/centaur reference?
Posted by: doug YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:03 PM
Awful call.
Posted by: walein | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:04 PM
BS call. Awful.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:05 PM
Just another huge, game-changing call by humans who aren't physically capable of consistently calling balls and strikes.
It's ok, I'm not blaming them, they're put in a very tough position. I blame Bud Selig, who is a first-class moron on this issue.
Posted by: AndrewYF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:06 PM
Matsui is just a bit early. Would have emptied the bases.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:06 PM
GODZILLA AGAIN!
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:07 PM
The Return of Godzilla!
Posted by: doug YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:07 PM
Matsui makes it not matter.
He DESTROYS Pedro in the postseason. Wow.
Posted by: AndrewYF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:07 PM
BEst thing that happened was that Pedro couldn't put Matsui on.
Posted by: walein | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:07 PM
Re-sign Hideki now!!!
Posted by: Nick-YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:07 PM
Brilliant, hideki. Just brilliant hitting.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:07 PM
Matsui is Pedro's Mami, way back to 2003. 4-1.
Posted by: Hudson | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:07 PM
How do you not take out Pedro here?
Posted by: AndrewYF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:07 PM
I think the reality is that Pedro is actually owning most of the Yankees...just not Matsui.
Posted by: walein | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:09 PM
I give Hideki a 6-year extension. We need to grow old together.
Posted by: Nick-YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:09 PM
PMar at 63 through just 3. Happ warming.
Posted by: Hudson | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:10 PM
Damon hurt now. Crap.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:12 PM
uh oh. we lose damon for hairston. egads. that's not nice.
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:12 PM
what happened to Damon?!
Posted by: Nick-YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:13 PM
Pulled calf running on hideki single.
Posted by: attackgerbil | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:14 PM
utley k.
yeah!!!
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:14 PM
Utley strike out? That's unpossible!
Posted by: doug YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:15 PM
cano snags a howard liner.
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:15 PM
whoa. Great pitching by Pettitte. I"m super bummed about Damon.
Posted by: walein | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:16 PM
werth bb again.
Posted by: YF | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 09:18 PM
Well, Pettitte doesn't get the outside strike call. Walk.
