The Yanks have just begun a stretch of 6 day games in 7 days and are in a much more meaningful stretch of 6 straight wins. Today they try to keep it going by sending the intriguing James-Bond-villain Ivan Nova and his furry white cat to the mound against Brandon Morrow and the homer-happy Blue Jays. The Jays own the season-series with the Yanks and are by far the most respectable 4th-place-team in the majors. The Yanks are already down by 1 on a solo-dinger by Snider but Morrow hasn't found the strikezone yet and the Yanks are threatening in the bottom of the first.
And when you're done with that, tune into the Sox-Sox matchup pitting Cy-worthy Clay Buccholz against John Danks and the vaudeville act known as the Ozzie and Manny Show.
Enjoy the baseball as those of us on the east coast batton down the hatches to welcome Hurricane Earl!

THANKS IH! You are a gentleman and a scholar.
2-1 CHAMPS!!!

Teix, Posada, Cano, Thames, and Swisher have all been hitting so well while A-Rod has been out that they really haven't missed him. Hell, they're trying to tie their longest win-streak of the year all without A-Rod and a shaky starting rotation.

Ivan Nova looking excellent...3 solid innings. Do we dare hope that he is the real deal? He has the stuff and the confidence...let's see if the management can fuck him up too like Joba and Phranchise...

Cano and Tex replacing Jeter and ARod as the Yankees main threats??? Papi and Manny-like with sick defensive skills???
Posted by: krueg | Friday, September 03, 2010 at 02:05 PM
Oh, and can we put the Ratatouille is better than Cano stuff to bed now???
Posted by: krueg | Friday, September 03, 2010 at 02:06 PM
It's kinda funny that one of the best players in Astro's history comes to the Yankees and is basically a scrub bench player...
NL is pathetic.

Hey don't bag on Berkman - I think gettinghim was a big deal for them. The guy is a veteran who can handle the post-season spotlight and a geat weapon to have off the bench. I see him as essentially swapping out for Nick Johnson at DH. As far as their mid-season pick-ups this year you really have to give Cashman some credit - Wood has been a big part in turning the bullpen from liability to strength and both Kearns and Berkman have vastly improved the bench from the days of Randy Winn. And holding onto Thames has been pretty fantastic also.

5-3. Lame.

Yep...they did a good job with the moves for sure!

Nova out with 2 outs in the 5th...he is not happy about it...Logan in.

Girardi has had the quickest hook on that kid. Each of his three starts I've felt like they yanked him too soon.

Agreed. See what the kid is made of.
Their cautious approach to the young pitchers annoys me. Obviously.

Berkman starting to pile up the hits since his return.

It's official. 5-3 after 5.

He's swings a hot bat right now...here's to hoping he can keep it going this month and into the Playoffs!!!

Side Note:
I love those NFL Sunday Ticket commercials...I just saw the one with the Giants fan cabbie and the Cowboys fans in the taxi. Hilarious.
Of course I'm partial to the one with the Fins fan in Foxboro!

The moron-otherwise-known-as-Sterling keeps talking about how Nunez can not get the win for the Yankees now that he was pulled before the 6th inning. Nunez. He has said it at least three times. It's Nova you fool! NOVA! Nunez is still playing! He's not even a pitcher! ANd he also had one of his patented, "It is high; it is far; it is...............oh......it's off the wall..." on Teixeira's RBI double in the 1st.
Lord help me before I pull my ears off.

Red Sox/White Sox game just postponed due to rain - they'll play a day-night dbleheader tomorrow.

Phew. Wood saves the bacon again. He has been superlative for the Yanks.
Posted by: IronHorse (YF) | Friday, September 03, 2010 at 03:38 PM
Yanks looking great right now. Maybe A-Rod should sit out a few extra days.
Posted by: IronHorse (YF) | Friday, September 03, 2010 at 03:53 PM
Stop listening to him IH...I don't want anything bad to happen to you!
Posted by: krueg | Friday, September 03, 2010 at 03:57 PM
Granderson has come around nicely...I really didn't want to not like the guy.
Posted by: krueg | Friday, September 03, 2010 at 03:59 PM
3 outs to go. Just a great stretch for the team. And I totally share the feeling re: Granderson Krueg. Would be very happy if he kept hitting like this.
And hey - they finally sat Jeter. Hallelujah. I'd sit him again tomorrow - let him come back totally refreshed on Sunday.

7th and counting...

It is hilarious how our bullpen was our biggest weakness at the AS break, and our starting pitching a strength (at the time, Pettitte was healthy, Hughes was still pitching well, Burnett was decent, Sabathia was Sabathia, and Vazquez was turning his season around) and now our starting pitching is our biggest weakness and our bullpen is a big strength.
Hilarious!
Ha!
Ha!

Manny apologized to the Nation...is he forgiven after all he did for BAH-sten???
Posted by: krueg | Saturday, September 04, 2010 at 10:13 AM
i'd be surprised if the majority of sox fans would forgive manny for the disgraceful and disloyal way he left...it would appear that his stay in LA was only a little less acrimonious...all LA did was pay him roughly $40m to play 170 games over his 2 "full" seasons with the dodgers...i can't imagine a little insincere butt-kissing and hollow apologies will have any impact on the boston fans i know...as far as this being a strategy to assure other teams that he is a changed man and worthy of a contract when this season is up, i don't see it working...if a team does sign him, that gm will be a laughingstock...
